MLK Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday

As a reminder, schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 15, for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Learn more about Martin Luther King Jr. See the complete school year calendar.

Volunteer with Give Together

FCPS students continue to find incredible ways to serve their community while building Portrait of a Graduate skills such as becoming an ethical and global citizen. The school division is excited to collaborate with Volunteer Fairfax for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Students and families can volunteer on Monday, January 15, at Volunteer Fairfax’s Give Together event. It is designed to engage families with children (ages 5-12) in service learning.  Projects will include a food drive, assembling caring kits for community members who need support, making no-tie fleece blankets for veterans, environmental stewardship, and support for animal welfare.

Students ages 13 to 18 are welcome to serve as teen event volunteers. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

SCA Officers and Sponsors

Congratulations to our SCA Officers who were inducted this morning in the library. SCA stands for Student Council Association. The group of students will act as student leaders and communicate student concerns to our staff.

Direct Donation Drive

DISTRIBUTION PURPOSE

100% of the money goes to the Weyanoke PTA to fund field trips, assemblies, and other important school activities, like the Talent Show, Spelling Bee, and school clubs. Our goal is $10,000 this year.

This is where the PTA gets MOST of its money to fund these great activities!
Thank you so much for your support! We ask for direct donations, so we don't have to ask you to sell items. Anyone can donate, including friends and family, to help Weyanoke reach our goal! Every Direct Donation is a tax-deductible donation directly to our PTA.

DECEMBER 13, 2023- JANUARY 18, 2024

  • If every student gets $10 from 5 people, would raise almost $30,000.
  • Ask your employer to match your donation, many have a policy in place to do so.
  • Donate/bring in donations for your child to have a chance to
    win a raffle prize!

HOW YOU CAN DONATE?

Donations can be sent to the school in the Donation Envelope or through the PTA website:
https://weyanokepta.square.site/
(While you're there you can join the PTA as well!).
