Curriculum Night @ SoCo
Chorus Winter Concert
Our 5th and 6th grade chorus had a wonderful Winter concert on Thursday evening. Dressed in their pjs for the occasion, the theme was lullabies; their voices were so beautiful that you didn’t want to be lulled to sleep. Congratulations Seahawks on a wonderful evening. Kudos to Ms. Cardell and Ms. McCay for your guidance.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday

Seahawk Talk
Parents/Guardians are invited to our first Seahawk Talk for the school year. Our first discussion will focus on Safety and Security. You will hear from our Security Training Specialist from the Office of Safety and Security. Please use this zoom link to join us on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 6:30-7:30pm. In the event FCPS is closed on Tuesday we will reschedule our Seahawk Talk.
The following topics will be covered:
- Review of Crisis terms
- Mandated drills
- Respond to your questions

Principal and Parent’s Coffee Chat
We would like to invite parents, guardians, and care givers in for a Principal and Parent's Coffee Chat. The purpose of the coffee is to take time for us to get to know each other better and respond to questions you may have. If you have specific questions for the administrators of Silverbrook, place your question or wondering on this form and we will respond to your inquiry during our coffee time.
The following dates are designated for our coffee chats:
- Principal/Parent Coffee Chat
- Friday, January 19 @ 9:30-10:30 in library
- Friday, February 16@ 9:30-10:30 in library
Monday, April 15 @ 6:30-7:30 in library

Valentines Day
Valentines Day is a beloved day at Silverbrook. We are asking that parents follow these guidelines for the class celebration.
- Please contact your child’s teacher to check on types of allergies before purchasing snacks.
- Parties are limited to 1.5 hours.
- Parent participation at the party will be between 2-4 parents. This is based on teachers’ discretion. Please make childcare arrangements for siblings.
- We cannot have balloons of any kind, no bouquets, arches, or single balloons.
Room parents will have access to decorate classroom door on Tuesday, February 13th after dismissal.

As a community, we are fortunate to have members of our community who celebrate special cultural or religious holidays each month. Please post one picture or one collage of pictures of your celebration with a brief caption so we can learn more about the special holidays that you celebrate as a Silverbrook family. Club and Candid Picture Day
is Coming
Tuesday, January 30th is Silverbrook’s Club and Candid Picture Day. We would like for you to remind your children to listen for their specific clubs and/or groups when they are announced over the intercom system so they will be included in the photo. We are including our Winter PTO Enrichment Clubs as well as they have started. Also, all patrols need to remember to bring and wear their belts. Patrols without belts will not be photographed. Club and Candid Picture Day happens only one time during the school year. This picture day will only be rescheduled in the event of a snow day.
