  • January 15, Monday: Martin Luther King Day - no school

  • January 18, Thursday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. (just for 6th grade parents) - Rising 7th grade curriculum night at Carl Sandburg MS
  • January 25, Thursday - Quarter End, Two-Hour Early Release

  • January 26, Friday - Teacher Workday, Student holiday

  • February 8, Thursday, 6 to 7 p.m. - SLES Young Author's Night 
  • February 15, Thursday, 6 p.m. - PTA Spelling Bee at SLES

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday

FCPS schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 15, for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. The holiday marks the birthday of King, who was the chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement. The movement protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. Learn more about Martin Luther King Jr. 


Young Author's Night - Thursday, February 8 

SLES Young Author's Night

We are having our Young Author's Night on Thursday, February 8 @ 6-7pm.  Last year, it was our most attended family event, and we are thrilled to be able to have another night where we can showcase our students’ writing.  Please join us for an evening of celebrating students’ hard work and sharing their writing.  You are welcome to visit  your students’ classrooms any time between 6-7pm.  We will also have a book give-away, 6th grade sponsored bake sale, raffle tickets for chance to win SLES swag, a special SLES 60th Anniversary celebration and more.

Spelling Bee - Thursday, Feb. 15th @ SLES 

The PTA is looking for someone to chair this year's Spelling Bee! The event will take place on February 15 at 6 p.m. in the SLES cafeteria. If interested, please contact Bridget Eldridge at volunteers@slpta.org


SLES Yearbook 2023-2024 for Sale Online

Stratford Landing Yearbook can now be purchased online until 4/1/2024. If you wish to make an order please go to this link. For additional details contact the PTA. The prices will be the following:

$20.00 until 3/1/2024 

$25.00 until 4/1/2024


Family Volunteer Workspace

We are opening a family volunteer workspace at Stratford Landing! We are looking for volunteers to assist teachers with photocopying, laminating, and other clerical work that's very time-consuming. If we can get this fully staffed, we could be a HUGE help to our amazing teachers! Please email volunteers@slpta.org if you are interested in helping out.

🗺️ Dual Language Immersion Program Registration

Registration for the countywide lottery for Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs will open on Monday, January 22. Current pre-K students may apply for the kindergarten immersion program, and current kindergarten students may apply for the first grade immersion programs for the 2024-25 school year. Programs are available in French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. 

Parents/caregivers who are interested may want to attend an informational meeting. Meetings are held at the school site. Check the FCPS events calendar for the most current information. Meetings will begin on Tuesday, January 16

A virtual meeting hosted by the World Languages Office will include general program information. Access to this virtual meeting will be made available on the FCPS events calendar and the Dual Language Immersion registration site on the day of the meeting.

Family Needs Assessment: We Need Your Input! 

The Wellness Team at Stratford Landing Elementary aims to support the students and their families throughout the school year. We are seeking parent/guardian input to help us identify, understand, and support specific family needs. Our goal is to use the information to encourage family engagement and connect families with the appropriate school and community resources. As parents/guardians, your involvement and input are vital to the school’s improvement process. Please complete this form at your earliest opportunity.
