Student Attendance Summary- Coming Soon!  As you know, regular attendance is a priority at Madison High School and is crucial for the academic success of all students. Studies have repeatedly proven that students with better attendance records perform better in school and are more likely to graduate high school on time.

At the end of the second semester we will be sending out a personalized Attendance Summary to each student and family.  We recognize that there are a variety of reasons that students are absent and this summary will be for informational purposes only.

We appreciate your partnership in prioritizing regular school attendance.  Please reach out to your student’s counselor or visit this FCPS resource on Encouraging School Attendance if you need additional support.

Winter Clothing Drive. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Madison High School/PTSA winter clothing drive in November and December. We are so grateful for our generous, thoughtful community. The students were thrilled with the donations. We had several specific student needs come up right before winter break for the following items: men’s size 13 winter boots, men’s size 13 sneakers, and men’s pants or sweatpants sizes 2XL, 3XL or 4XL.  If anyone might be interested in donating these new or gently-used items, please email Bethany Slingerland at bsslingerland@fcps.edu . Thank you to everyone in the Madison community for your support of our students!

Conversation to Raise Awareness of Fentanyl and Other Drugs In this video, Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid interviews the Fosters, a family who tragically lost their son Cayden to a half pill of fentanyl mistaken for Percocet. This heart-wrenching yet eye-opening video of their experience is essential to raise awareness among parents/caregivers and students about the dangers of fake painkillers.

Please join Dr. Reid on Wednesday, January 10, at 6:30 p.m., at Edison High School for a community conversation about opioid awareness. You may register to attend. However, registration is not required; it is simply for space considerations.

The evening’s program is appropriate for parents/caregivers and students in grades 6-12. All attendees will receive free REVIVE! Narcan training during the event and learn about support services currently available within FCPS and Fairfax County.

FCPS’ website also has resources to help you to start the conversation and additional support for families struggling with substance misuse.

One School | One Community | One World

Madison High School strives to create and maintain an identity affirming learning environment where our students embrace, support, and encourage each other where multiple forms of identity (i.e. race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, or disability) are recognized and regarded as assets for teaching and learning. We work to ensure school is a place where students feel safe and can be themselves. We do not tolerate hate speech, racist speech, bias, or acts of discrimination in our school. We want all students to feel a sense of belonging. We want to see all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to learning, growing, and building the best Madison High School for all our students. We are One School - One Community - One World.
