A bright and prosperous new year to our Fox Mill Family,
We are happy to be back for another calendar year of learning and growing. We appreciate all the kind gestures shown to our staff over the festive season. It is our hope that you got to spend time with family and friends whether close by or farther away. As we journey into this new year, let us focus on ways to celebrate each small achievement and make this year a memorable one for all our students.
A Few Updates
Dual Language Immersion Program Registration Registration for the countywide lottery for Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs will open on Monday, January 22. Current pre-K students may apply for the kindergarten immersion program, and current kindergarten students may apply for the first grade immersion programs for the 2024-25 school year. Programs are available in French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.
Parents/caregivers who are interested may want to attend an informational meeting. Meetings are held at the school site. Check the FCPS events calendar for the most current information. Meetings will begin on Tuesday, January 16.
Fox Mill ES Immersion Informational Session will be held on January 17th 2024 from 7-8pm in the school’s library. For more information please contact: ImmersionInfo@fcps.edu or 571-423-4602
A virtual meeting hosted by the World Languages Office will include general program information. Access to this virtual meeting will be made available on the FCPS events calendar and the Dual Language Immersion registration site on the day of the meeting.

Safety Information
Safe Students, Safe Schools
Fairfax County Public Schools believes that academic success is built on the foundation of a safe learning environment. This includes physical safety, and mental health and wellness.
FCPS has a comprehensive approach to safety that involves physical security measures, online monitoring by security staff, and crisis intervention support. The division has created the Safe Students, Safe Schools Brochure (PDF) to enhance your awareness of potential hazards and to equip you with practical tips for how you can help. The PTA is very excited to announce 2022-2023 winners of The Reflections competition. Congratulations to:

These four students will go on to compete in the county wide Reflections competition. Thank you to everyone who submitted work.
The PTA is excited to kick off the new year with Skate Night, this Saturday from 6 – 8 at SkateQuest in Reston! Tickets are available for sale now on Pay4SchoolStuff. Click HERE for details. In the event FCPS cancels school activities due to weather, we will postpone this event and reschedule for a future date. Anyone who has purchased tickets will have the option to use them at the rescheduled event or request a refund. We hope to see everyone there for this fun filled night on the ice!

FCPS Math Week - January 8-12
Come together as a community for students in K-8 for 5 nights the week of January 8, 2024, with delightful math games and stories - all on your own time and from the comfort of your own home.
All content will be available completely free on the website starting January 8, 2024. To access the games, families will be able to simply click on the day of the week and find their child's grade and language. View the website at any time for explanations and videos.
Any and ALL math experiences outside of a normal week count. Our goal is for FCPS to experience 1 million minutes of math outside of the school day. Join us!
