Save the Date for Science Night, February 22!
On February 22nd, join us for a fun-filled night of hands-on science experiments, engineering challenges, art activities and more! Students will have the opportunity to complete their Science Night Passport and win prizes.
Date: February 22, 2024
Time: Registration opens at 5:45, activities will run from 6 – 8 p.m.
Location: Dranesville Elementary School

Science Experiment Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers to help lead experiments (and of course with the general set up and registration). Each experiment station needs 1 lead volunteer and 1-2 helper volunteers. Helper volunteers can be middle-school aged and up.
Have a former Dranesville student? Invite them to come help with an experiment at their alma mater. Take a look at the sign up sheet and help us put on this great educational event for the school!

Coming Up! Stars on Stage, from NextStop Theatre Company
Stars on Stage, a collaboration between Dranesville PTA and NextStop Theatre Company, presents Disney’s “The Lion King KIDS.” Students will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a full musical production. No experience required! Join our Pride and become a Star on Stage!
Who: Grades 3-6
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 27 – May 23, from 4:15 – 5:30 pm.
Location: Dranesville Elementary School
Performances: Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. and Friday, May 24 at 3 p.m.
Cost: Free*
Registration opens January 11!
*Space is limited. If more participants register than spaces are available, students will be selected to participate using a random drawing. You will be notified of the selection outcome by February 1, 2024.
Chess Club Starts January 16
Open to students in 2nd-6th grade. Fun, low-pressure chess instruction and play in a controlled scholastic environment. Interactive lessons taught by a US Chess Federation experienced adult chess teacher.
Dates: Tuesdays, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27 & 3/12
Time: 8:05 – 9:015 a.m.
