NEW News

1. Message from Mr. Greata

Good Afternoon Woodson,

What a spirited week it has been here at Woodson High School! Our student leadership got us revved up at our winter pep rally as we celebrated winter sports with school pride. We closed out the week by putting the “win” in “swinter” (summer & winter), as modeled by our fabulous spirit model, Ms. Glover, pictured below.

At the pep rally, we announced our outstanding employee award recipients for our school.  Huge shout out to Travis Pugh, Jayme Cole, Ashley Demaree, Mike Ferraris, and Kathy Martin, who have been selected to be considered for pyramid awards.  Congratulations and thank you!

As we look forward to the break, please remember that students will not have any homework assignments and there should be no major assignments due directly after the break. In addition, school offices will be open by appointment only, which can be made by reaching out to individual administrators.

Finally, words cannot express the immense pride I feel being selected as the new principal of Woodson High School! To be entrusted with leading this exceptional school is truly an honor. This community has held a special place in my heart and your trust and enthusiasm are humbling and inspiring. I am ready to invest all that I have into Woodson’s future and together, we'll ensure that every student can flourish in a supportive and enriching environment.

Until next year, I hope you and your family have a wonderful break and a holiday season!

Warm Regards,

Mr. Greata
Principal

5. Student and Family Resources During Break

Please visit the winter resources webpage for links to academic support; mental health support; and food, clothing, housing, and other county resources.

School’s Closed, Learning Can Continue!
FCPS encourages students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during winter break and snow days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play for your students during winter break or weather-related school closures.

Promoting Mental Wellness During Winter Break
Although mental health indicators have improved over the past year, Fairfax County Youth Survey (FCYS) data suggest that more than 25% of students in 8th to 12th grade feel sad or hopeless every day for two weeks or more in a row. The holidays can be a time to reduce stress, but they can also contribute to it. Here are some tips for making winter break a positive time for the young people in your life.
