As snowflakes fall and the year winds down, we wish you a joyous winter break!
The holidays are upon us, and with them comes a time for rest, reflection, and celebration. We want to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to all our amazing families for their unwavering support throughout the year.
We have witnessed incredible growth and achievements from our students, both in and out of the classroom. This is a testament to the strong partnership between our dedicated teachers, supportive families, and enthusiastic students.
As we embark on this winter break, we encourage everyone to take time to recharge, reconnect with loved ones, and create lasting memories. Explore the wonders of the season, share traditions, and embrace the joy of the holidays.
May your winter break be filled with laughter, warmth, and cherished moments. We look forward to welcoming you back in the new year with renewed energy and excitement for the adventures that await.

Tonight! Tonight! Tonight! Please join us to celebrate the hard work of our 5th and 6th graders in chorus this year at our winter concert! Wednesday, December 13th at 6:30pm in the GBE Gym!
We often notice more empty seats in our classrooms as winter break approaches. This year, let's work together to nurture a rock-solid attendance habit. Every hour of every school day is a unique opportunity for students to learn, connect, and grow.
A big thank you to:
- 🌟 Students who show up every day and the parents/caregivers supporting them.
- 👩🏫 Teachers who create a welcoming environment for learning.
- 👨💼 Administrators providing a safe and engaging place to grow.
- 👏 Bus drivers, support staff, and volunteers lending a helping hand to all our learners.
If you or your child need support, please reach out to our school social worker or family liaison. If your child is not feeling well, please refer to the When Should I Keep My Child Home? webpage for guidance.
There will be no school from Monday, December 18, to Monday, January 1, 2024, for winter break. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 2.
Visit FCPS’ website for more attendance resources.
Impact Aid News you Choose
Beginning October 13, FCPS will be asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Returning this form is important, because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If Sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3 y 4. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned ASAP. All responses are confidential.
Thank you to the families for joining today as we starting our planning for our Family Night on February 22nd. We would love to have your input as we continue planning! You can review the slides from today for an overview here:

Today's Attendance rate is 84.3 %
As of today, students enrolled at the beginning of the school year that have missed 6 or fewer days of school are helping us reach our goal of 85% (percentage of students not chronically absent). Once we reach our 71st day of school in the next several days, students that have missed 7 or fewer days will help us reach our goal! Thank you for making regular school attendance a priority! We love dancing our way out of the building on Fridays at dismissal when our overall chronic absenteeism rate is below 15%!
