Lees Corner Families,
As winter break approaches, we want to take a moment to express or sincere gratitude for our amazing school community. Together, we’ve achieved so much this fall, and we are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and creativity of our students, teachers, and families! We enjoyed the festive participation of staff, students, and families this week- during our Winter Break Celebration! Special thanks to our PTA for hosting such a wonderful luncheon for our teachers and staff! Today, we were able to celebrate with our annual Holiday Sing-A-long! We are grateful to all staff and students, who made this possible!
As a reminder, the LCES Main Office will be closed during Winter Break. We wish you all a safe, healthy, and relaxing winter break. This time off is a much-deserved opportunity to spend quality time with loved ones, create lasting memories, and recharge for the exciting year ahead!
Ms. Sloan and Ms. Hutchinson
Our weekly newsletter (NYC or NewsYouChoose) will be taking a short break over the holidays. January 5th will be the next one to go out.
The office will be closed during all of Winter Break (12/18/23-1/1/24) so staff can enjoy and spend time with their families. Happy Holidays!
January 3rd is a Varsity Basketball Double Header at Chantilly HS. We will be celebrating Pyramid Night and we welcome families from our feeder schools to attend one or both games!
5:30pm Girls Varsity vs. Stafford HS
7:30pm Boys Varsity vs. Stafford HS
Varsity Sideline cheer will be at both games as well!
All feeder students wearing spirit wear will get in free to the games with a paying adult!

Thank you to everyone who nominated Lees Corner staff members for the 2023-2024 FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards. We are pleased to announce that the following employee was chosen to represent Lees Corner:
Melissa Carbonara – Lees Corner Outstanding Teacher
We are now looking for people to write letters of support for her. The people that nominated this staff member will be completing the nomination forms, but we also need two letters of support. If you would be willing to write a letter of support and/or just share some input about experiences you have with Ms. Carbonara, please email your letters to rcestrada@fcps.edu and she will forward the information to those that are completing the nomination packets. It is helpful if you use the award criteria as a guide for all supporting documentation and use specific stories and examples to support the responses. Please submit all letters by Jan 2nd. If you have any questions, you may contact Rachel Estrada at rcestrada@fcps.edu
Criteria for outstanding teacher:
- Instill in students a desire to learn and achieve.
- Understand the individual needs of students, encourage their talents and foster their self-esteem.
