Floris Families,

A little less wintry weather this week. Our Eagles would have appreciated a full week of sunshine for more outdoor recess possibilities, but the less frigid temperatures were nice.

Today is the end of the second quarter and a two-hour early release for all FCPS schools. Floris will dismiss at 2:00pm today. There is no school for students tomorrow (1/26) for the Teacher Workday.

We will see our students next Monday, January 29, for the start of the third quarter.

Have a fabulous long-weekend!

Holly Walker, Principal, hjwalker@fcps.edu

Rob Gibbs, Assistant Principal, ragibbs@fcps.edu

Floris has the opportunity to have facilitators from the Department of Family Services present the “Body Safety” curriculum to our students. This will be the first time we have presented this information to students at Floris, but many Fairfax County elementary schools (including several within the Westfield pyramid) participate in this opportunity every year.

A brief description from The DFS website:

The Body Safety Program is taught FREE of charge in elementary schools, childcare centers, community centers and other group settings for children in Pre-K to sixth grade. It is a school-based program that focuses on building safety skills within the child, preparing them to identify risks such as:

  • Child abuse.
  • Bullying.
  • Internet safety.

Additional information can be found online: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/familyservices/children-youth/volunteer-partner-services/body-safety

Opt-out letters are going home with students this week. The Facilitators will be at Floris February 20-23. If you have questions, reach out to Maggie Seneca, maseneca1@fcps.edu.
