Strings concert

Dear SEES Families,

I hope this message finds you all well! As we approach the end of another exciting week at SEES, I wanted to take a moment to share some highlights and look ahead to what's coming up next.

Band concert

This Week's Highlights:

  • A Celebration of Music: This week, we were thrilled to host our annual Band and Strings Winter concerts. It was truly inspiring to witness the growth and dedication of our 5th and 6th-grade musicians as they showcased their talents for their fellow Eagles and their families. The concerts were a resounding success, filled with beautiful melodies and heartwarming performances. Thank you to our talented teachers, Mr. Dave Jakes, Band Director, Mr. Smith, Strings Director, and Ms. Williams-Favry, Strings Director, for their hard work and dedication in preparing our students for this exceptional event.
  • Academic Excellence: Our third through sixth grade classrooms have been buzzing with activity this week as students tackled their Winter Virginia Growth Assessments (VGA).  We are so proud of their hard work!

Looking Ahead to Next Week:

  • Final Week Before Winter Break: Next week marks the final week before our students embark on their well-deserved Winter Break. Different classrooms may have activities planned. Please be sure to check your child's backpack for detailed information.  We know that you may want to get a jump start on any Winter holiday plans.  Please report any absence using our attendance line at 703-921-2323 OR by emailing SpringfieldEstatesElem.Attendance@fcps.edu.
  • Read-A-Fun Incentive:  Our students raised over $3,000 and read over 126,175 minutes.  This means on December 13th, Mrs. Flading and I will be wearing the special outfits voted on by our students.  We are excited to see what creative combinations our Eagles created for us.
  • School Closure: Please be aware that school will be closed from December 18th through January 1st for students. We will reopen on January 2nd, 2024, for the start of 2024.  School offices will be open on December 18th, 19th, and 27th.

As we approach the holiday season, I wish you and your families a time filled with warmth, joy, and cherished memories. May your break be filled with rest, relaxation, and quality time with loved ones.

SOARing Sincerely,

April Martin

Proud Principal
