Dear Bee Families,
We trust this letter finds you in good health and high spirits as we collectively embrace the enchanting season of winter. We are delighted to extend our heartfelt greetings for a joyous and prosperous New Year!
Winter, with its crisp air and glistening landscapes, brings a unique magic to our lives. It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and coming together as a community. Our bees are buzzing with excitement as we witness the students' eyes light up with the prospect of snowflakes, holiday festivities, and the promise of a fresh start in the upcoming year.
We continue to be committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for your children to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. As the winter season unfolds, we have planned a variety of engaging activities and events to enrich the educational experience for our students. From winter-themed classroom projects to fun-filled seasonal assemblies, we aim to create memorable moments that will leave a lasting impression on our young learners.
Additionally, we would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for your continued support and involvement in your child's education. Your partnership is invaluable, and together, we can ensure a positive and enriching learning journey for each and every student.
As we bid farewell to the old and usher in the new, let us approach the coming year with hope, resilience, and a commitment to creating a brighter future for our children. May the year ahead be filled with success, laughter, and countless moments of shared joy.
As always, we are a team. Please reach out with any questions or celebrations you might have.
Wishing you and your loved ones a splendid holiday season and a Happy New Year!
Warmly,
The Fab 5

Window for Full-time AAP Referrals Closes on December 15
Parents/guardians of students in Grades 2-7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time advanced academic programs may submit the AAP Full-Time (Level IV) Referral Form to Katie Anderson kanderson2@fcps.edu no later than December 15, 2023.
The window for families to submit a referral for full-time AAP services is the first day of school through December 15, annually. Forms for full-time and part-time referrals are available on the AAP Forms Page. No late referrals for Full-Time AAP services will be accepted.
Submitting a referral form for full-time AAP will initiate a process that begins at the local school and is then completed at the central office level. Our school will put together a portfolio that includes multiple data which are considered holistically. At the central office level, a committee of six trained professionals from various schools and roles will review the portfolio materials to determine eligibility for full-time placement. Eligibility decisions are communicated by early April. Parents may request a copy of the portfolio that was submitted after they have been turned in for central selection by emailing Katie Andersonkanderson2@fcps.edu
Referrals for subject-specific and part-time AAP are screened at the local school. If you miss this deadline, your student can still be screened for subject-specific AAP or part-time AAP for the remainder of the year and submit a referral for full-time AAP next fall.
For more information, please visit the Advanced Academic Programs website.
