This Week at Eagle View...

1201

School Starts at 9:15 a.m.!

This is a friendly reminder to all families that school starts at 9:15 a.m.! This means all students must be in their classrooms ready to start the day by 9:15 a.m. Please plan accordingly, have your students come to school on time, and be prepared to learn at 9:15 a.m. All students who arrive after 9:15 a.m. will be marked with an unexcused tardy unless their buses arrive late due to unforeseen circumstances. We appreciate your cooperation.

Safety First at Kiss and Ride!

kr

In order for the Eagle View staff to ensure a safe environment for all children, we ask that the following drop-off and pick-up procedures be followed by all families. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our children safe!

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

  • Drop off begins at 9:00 a.m.
  • Kiss and Ride cars will line up in a snake-like pattern (pictured above) to alleviate a line of vehicles on Legato and to minimize traffic patterns that cross.
  • When entering the parking lot for the Kiss and Ride line, proceed to the “Drop-Off / Pick Up Area” in front of the school. Please pull up as far as possible.
  • As you enter the Kiss and Ride loop, remind your child to unbuckle the seat belt.
  • Do not leave your child if there is no staff member present at Kiss and Ride. You must line up and wait at the starting location until a staff member is in position at Kiss and Ride to receive your child. Otherwise, this creates a dangerous situation where your child is roaming the school grounds unsupervised. There are no exceptions.
  • Do not allow your child to leave your car before entering the Drop-Off / Pick Up Area” in front of the school.
  • The students may exit their vehicle on the right passenger side only. Left door should always be closed for safety purposes. If, for any reason, your child must exit from the driver side, please escort your child to the sidewalk.
  • After dropping off your child, proceed to exit the Kiss and Ride line carefully. Use extreme caution.
  • Parents arriving after 9:15 a.m. must park and escort students to the main entrance (door 1) where you will be greeted by an office staff.

Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures

  • Pick-up begins at 4:00 p.m.; Changes to afternoon transportation must be communicated to the front office no later than 3:00 p.m.
  • When you arrive, please be sure to have your Kiss and Ride number card visibly displayed on your dashboard when you pull forward.
  • All cars should move up as far as possible along the sidewalk so that we may get as many cars loaded as possible. Please do not stop directly in front of your child as this will delay all of the cars behind you.
  • Children may only enter their vehicle from the right side of the vehicle. Left doors should always be closed for safety purposes, especially during dismissal time.
  • Ensure that your child wears a seat belt and proceed to exit the Kiss and Ride loop carefully.
  • Parents arriving after 4:10 p.m. must park and sign out students from the office staff.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring smooth arrival and dismissal at Kiss and Ride.

Social and Emotional Learning Screener Results Coming Soon

One of the ways FCPS supports the mental wellness of all students is through the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener. In October, students in grades 3-12 took this screener, which gives information about their skills such as achieving goals, handling emotions, building relationships with adults and peers, and making good choices.

The screener also helps students evaluate their school community’s efforts to make them feel valued, included, and supported. Screener data is used to create learning, experiences, and environments for students to succeed.

In early December, families will be able to view student SEL Screener results in SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent by mail.

Learn more about the screener on the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage. For help understanding your child’s results or ideas to support them at home, review the Family Guide or contact your child’s school.

❄️ Preparing for Winter Weather

weather video

Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how weather-related closing decisions are made.

FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible including email, text, social media, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated

Be sure to plan for the winter season. Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and plan for childcare if needed.

🌏 World Languages Offerings in Elementary Schools Survey

Fairfax County Public Schools is considering expansion of our Dual Language Immersion programs to include new languages and school sites, as well as an expansion of new languages for our Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools program.

Parents/caregivers, please share your thoughts about expanding World Languages elementary program offerings. An FCPS survey is available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Urdu, and Vietnamese. It should take less than 10 minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous. The survey is optional and will close on Friday, December 8.

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care.
