Principal Message

Dear Marshall Road Families,

We hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend with family and friends.

Thank you for supporting Marshall Road through your donations to the Runathon!  Your generosity makes such a difference in the lives of our students and staff!

Please consider being a part of the Madison Pyramid ONE Campaign Winter Wishes drives by joining with the MRES community to collect new or excellent used/ready-to-wear condition winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for children, teens, and women.  Details can be found below.

This week we will put a special emphasis on kindness as we launch the drive mentioned above and consider the small acts of creative kindness we can perform in simple ways for others.

We have only 15 school days until the winter break.  Regular and consistent attendance is key to student success.  The next few weeks will be filled with much learning and many enjoyable activities as we close out 2023.  Please mark your calendar for our Winter Concert (band, chorus, and strings!) which is taking place on Tuesday, December 12 at 6:30 pm.

Have a great week!

Much peace.

PTA Update

We raised over $47,000 for Marshall Road!

Thank you, Marshall Road community!  Our 13th annual Runathon raised over $47,000!  Your generosity will help our students, teachers, and staff throughout the year!  Every dollar will help enrich our school!

Thank you to all our volunteers who helped make the Runathon a success and thanks again to all our wonderful sponsors.  Finally, congratulations to all our raffle and prize winners!!

Winter Coat Drive

As the ONE campaign grows, the Madison Pyramid is mobilizing collective kindness and generosity to support our community this fall.  We are inviting you to join families across the pyramid in giving through the ONE Campaign Winter Wishes Drives.  #ONEKindAct can change the world.  YOU and your contributions MATTER.  Please read below for more information about how you can help at Marshall Road:

The MRES community will be collecting new or excellent used/ready-to-wear condition winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for children, teens, and women beginning today through December 8.  A drop-off box will be located in the MRES lobby.

Contributions will be donated to Women Giving Back (https://womengivingback.org/). Sponsored by the MRES PTA.

Game Night at iCode Vienna

Drop the kids off at iCode Vienna for game night fun and all the proceeds will go back to Marshall Road's PTA!  Kids will get to play in the eSports gaming lounge, play Roblox with friends in the Mac room, go to a virtual world using VR Oculus Headsets, get creative with LEGO, watch movies and just have fun!  This event is taking place on Friday, December 1, 5:30-8:30 pm.  Pizza and drinks are included!  Register here.

Holiday Gifts/Class Gifts for Teachers and Staff

We know many families like to show their appreciation for teachers and staff with a gift around the holiday season.  If you’d like to participate, please use this GiftCrowd page to leave a note and a gift for any staff member that has made a difference to your family.  The list includes all teachers and staff at Marshall Road, so you can give to your student’s main teacher, as well as specials teachers, specialists, and other staff, all in one place.  Staff members will be able to redeem their gifts for one or more gift cards (including Amazon, Target, Walmart, or hundreds of others).

We hope this will take some burden off Room Reps and allow gift recipients to benefit from one larger group gift that they can choose how to use.  GiftCrowd is free to use – it does not charge any fees to either gift buyers or gift receivers.  The receiver will see the names of people that contribute but will only see the grand total of money contributed.

The deadline to contribute is Thursday, December 14,  9:00 pm.  All gifts will be emailed to teachers and staff that evening.  Questions? Email Renee at president@marshallroadpta.org

New Student Directory

We are pleased to share that the Marshall Road student directory is complete, and you should be receiving it via email from your Room Rep soon.  The directory is in PDF format and contains information such as the names and emails of teachers/staff, student names, and parent/guardian emails.  The directory is exclusively for the private use of Marshall Road Elementary School families.

Having a student directory is a wonderful way to promote communication and community among parents and students, which has a variety of benefits for everyone involved.  For example, parents/guardians can facilitate playdates, send party invitations, and support extracurricular activities.

In the past few weeks, Room Reps have also been sharing classroom contacts.  If you do not receive the school-wide student directory or your classroom contacts, please reach out to your Room Rep.  Questions can be directed to directory@marshallroadpta.org.
