Dear Wolftrap Families,
Welcome back! I hope you had a restful break. We look forward to a productive time before the winter holiday. This is always a busy time for students and staff. Please keep an eye on the calendar so that you can prepare your child for any changes in schedules due to concerts or other events. This can help with the stress connected with this time of year. As always, let us know how to help. Have a great week! Perhaps we will see you at the Vienna Holiday Stroll or at Family Science Night this week!

AAP REFERRAL WINDOW CLOSING DATE: Window for Full-time AAP Referrals Closes on December 15, 2023: Parents/guardians of students in Grades 2-7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time advanced academic programs may submit the AAP Full-Time (Level IV) Referral Form to Mrs. Newman (srnewman@fcps.edu) no later than December 15, 2023.
The window for families to submit a referral for full-time AAP services is the first day of school through December 15, annually. Forms for full-time and part-time referrals are available on the AAP Forms Page. No late referrals for Full-Time AAP services will be accepted.
Submitting a referral form for full-time AAP will initiate a process that begins at the local school and is then completed at the central office level. Our school will put together a portfolio that includes multiple data which are considered holistically. At the central office level, a committee of six trained professionals from various schools and roles will review the portfolio materials to determine eligibility for full-time placement. Eligibility decisions are communicated by early April. Referrals for subject-specific and part-time AAP are screened at the local school and do not have a deadline. For more information, please visit the Advanced Academic Programs website.

December 2nd: National Special Education Day: National Special Education Day is recognized each year on Dec. 2 and commemorates President Gerald Ford’s signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in 1975. We celebrate our teachers and staff who serve and support our students with special needs, as well as our families who are partners in the education and support of those students! STAFF SPOTLIGHT: This is Ms. Sarah Wagner's first year at Wolftrap, but she has been a teacher for 7 years. She has loved the helpful staff and the caring students at Wolftrap. She enjoys hiking and paddle boarding when she is not teaching, and she will also play video games and shop! She is another product of FCPS, graduating from South Lakes HS (go Seahawks!). Ms. Wagner is Wolftrap’s new Get2Green leader, and she is excited to share her love of nature with our community. Welcome to Ms. Wagner!
