This was a busy week at Lemon Road! Thank you to all our families that have been supporting field trips, joined us for Family Night, and ran with our girls yesterday. The partnership with our parents and families is instrumental to the success of our students in school.
As we look to the holidays, we are partnering with the PTA to host a canned food drive for local families in need. Read below for ways to contribute.
Each year, the LRES administrators host a winter luncheon for the full staff. We extend each staff members lunch, decorate the library, give a gift to each staff member, and bring in a catered meal. During this luncheon we also play a few games that require prizes. If you have a "white elephant" gift you can part with or a gift card you won't use, please drop it off in the main office for Mrs. Castillo labeled "staff lunch" before December 13. Our staff is very competitive and really enjoy the prizes!
Read-a-Thon: Thank you to all our families that supported our fundraiser Read-a-Thon! We raised a lot of money that will cover our PTA budget and help the school with new technology. We love that this was timed with our Book Fair and encouraged our lions to read!
Food Drive: This December, the Lemon Road PTA will have a large "Minion" box in the school lobby from December 1st - 12th collecting in canned and boxed goods. Families may also donate visa gift cards online which will be delivered direct to the school labelled for the PTA. On the 13th we collect all donations, take the food to a local food bank and give the gift cards to families in need within the Lemon Road Community.
November PTA Meeting: During our November General Meeting, Mary Smith, a local parenting coach, will be joining us on November 29th to discuss Parental Overload and how to handle it. We hope to see many of you at 6:30 PM.
The Winter Virginia Growth Assessment (VGA) will be taking place at Lemon Road from December 5 - 12. This is a content-based assessment for students in grades 3 - 6 in math and reading. The assessments will take place in the morning, so please have your child arrive on time. To learn more information about the Virginia Growth Assessment, please visit this website. If you have any questions about the VGA, please contact Ms. Ulsh.
