Principal’s Message

Wolverine Community,

Happy Weekend.  Below are a few brief reminders I wanted to share with you:

  • ParentVue/StudentVue have been back up since Tuesday. Gradebooks within these applications are the best way to view your child’s current progress.  Yesterday students received a hard copy of their report cards in Advisory.  If you’d like to review their grades as of November 3rd your child should have it with them this weekend.
  • Attendance Report Cards – all families should have received your child’s attendance report card via email. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to our school-based team.  There were links to Administration and Student Services within the report card.  We’ll continue to send updates later in the school year as we work to reduce chronic absenteeism at West Potomac.
  • As we start the second quarter, please take a moment to review our arrival and dismissal kiss and ride procedures. Note the green on the map shows where only staff and student drivers should be entering campus.  All student drop offs should be occurring on the orange route.  Please never allow your child to exit your vehicle while on Quander Road.  We appreciate everyone’s support as we work to ensure a safe arrival and departure every day at West Potomac!
  • Finally, yesterday we shared with our Faculty some bittersweet news as Ms. Belinda Williams, Assistant Principal, has accepted a position as Assistant Principal at Bryant High School.  Ms. Williams has served the West Potomac Community in two capacities – first as an English teacher from 1998-2003 and then returning in 2020 as assistant principal. I know on behalf of our entire community we thank her all she has done for our students and faculty and wish her the best in her new position.  Ms. Williams last day at West Potomac will be December 8.

Wishing you a great weekend.

Take care,

Kevin McMahon

Interim Principal

What the PTSA’s Test Prep Program Offers

  • Test optional does not mean test blind! Many students still provide test scores with their college applications. Test scores are used for admissions, scholarships, and class placement. Take a mock test to see if you’re in the scholarship range or just a prep class away from that range. Test optional means YOU CHOOSE whether or not to send your scores. A good test score can only strengthen your application
  • Mock Tests – Find out how you’d score! Mock Tests ($23.00): Practice your skills under realistic testing conditions. Take mocks of both ACT and Digital SAT relatively close together to determine your test strength/preference. Focus your test prep on your strength!
  • SAT & ACT Test Prep Classes Group classes ($425.00): Students receive a 15-hour, structured review of major Digital SAT or ACT concepts and strategies from a premium tutor trained to deliver content in efficient and interesting ways. Test guides & session notes are provided to help simplify the studying process. Additionally, after each mock test, you will receive a detailed results analysis to help you chart your own unique course towards mastering the test. Online class license is included. Minimum enrollment is 15 students.
  • Need Flexibility? We have an online class option! Try Applerouth’s Self-Paced Online Course - Animated video lessons and comprehensive practice for every section of the Digital SAT or ACT. Available for purchase ($125.00) on the PTSA’s MemberHubStore. More details about content for SAT course available here. More about the ACT course here.
  • Supercharge your study skills! Applerouth’s Guide to Academic Success ($10.00) available now on PTSA’s MemberHubStore. Build a foundation for better study skills! More details about this e-book content available here.
