Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

We promised that it would be a packed week in the hive and it was! We were buzzing with the Book Fair and our Bee Kind Spirit Week all week. Thank you for all of the donations to the SCA Winter Drive, we are grateful to be able to support the students at Graham Road Elementary School.  And many of you shared not one but two meals together on Wednesday with the return of the Thanksgiving Luncheon followed by the PTA Silver Diner Night on Wednesday.  It was so wonderful to see so many family members join us.

As we enter the week of Thanksgiving, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Our school community, enriched by diverse backgrounds, thrives on the strength and unity you bring to it.  Your unwavering support, kindness, and active involvement have made our school an even more nurturing and vibrant environment. Each family contributes uniquely to the collaborative spirit that defines us.  We are grateful for our amazing Stenwood staff who fill our building with positivity and joy every day.

After our short two-day school week next week, schools and offices will be closed Wednesday-Friday, November 22nd-24th. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Classes will resume on Monday, November 27th

Stenwood Go Club

We are hoping to start a before-school Go Club for our Stenwood students. For those unfamiliar, Go is an abstract strategy board game invented in China more than 4,500 years ago and enjoyed by millions of players worldwide.

Please contact Mr. Case if you are able to volunteer as a parent sponsor for this before-school club once a week. Experience and familiarity with the game is not necessary.

Parent Book Club

For Quarter 2, we will be reading How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlich.  Books are selected based on your input and interest and are related to parenting skills and raising school-aged children. If you aren’t already on the email list, please fill out this form to express your interest and feedback and we will provide you with more details directly. The book club is facilitated by Tammy Berick, School Counselor and Catherine Wideman, Kindergarten Teacher and all parents who want to join!

Book Fair Recap

Yearbook

Thank you to all the families who supported the library through the book fair!  It was a huge success.  25% of all sales are returned to the library which Mrs. Cole then uses to buy more books for our collection. We also appreciate all the contributions to classroom libraries.  It’s a joy to see kids excited about books, crafts, and educational games.

Make a reminder now that we’ll have a spring book fair in April where you can stock up on summer reading and activities.  Happy reading!
