Veterans Day provides a great reason to pause, reflect, and recognize the extraordinary sacrifices our Veterans and their families have made on our behalf, and we thank them for their service. Learn more about the history of Veterans Day at va.gov.
Clermont Elementary began the day today with a breakfast to honor our Veteran parents, and also our active duty military families. The JROTC Cadets from Edison HS came over to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Veteran and active duty parents then went to all of our classrooms and talked about their time in the service with our students during Morning Meeting. Thank you to the PTA and all of our military connected families for making this a memorable Veterans Day for the children at Clermont!
Clermont Elementary's Scholastic Book Fair will be held in person from November 27th - December 1st. Help is needed in preparing for the fair and throughout the week it is open. Please consider volunteering your time by helping to advertise, decorate, set up, work at the fair during school hours, work after school during our late night, and help to pack up at the end of the week.
Please feel free to sign up to volunteer for an hour, a couple of hours, or for the entire week. Whatever works for you! The book fair is a lot of fun and is one of our most popular volunteer opportunities. We appreciate your time and efforts. We look forward to working with you! Questions? Email Kannan Cangro, Clermont Librarian, at kncangro@fcps.edu.

Happy Diwali to all those who celebrate this day and the victory of light over darkness. This year's Diwali artwork was created by Chantilly High School student Rijuta D. as part of the FCPS Observance Design Challenge for Students.
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) offers a comprehensive Family Life Education (FLE) program.
FLE instruction begins in kindergarten and continues through grade 12. FLE includes topics in human growth and development and social and emotional health. FLE instruction helps students gain knowledge and skills needed to make healthy, responsible, and life-enhancing decisions related to relationships and their physical, emotional, and social health. Parents and guardians are partners in their child’s learning.
FLE instruction supports the development of strong families, positive relationships, and a healthy community. Parents and guardians can review FLE materials. Parents/guardians can access FLE lessons in Schoology using their SIS username and password. Due to copyright permissions, we are unable to stream all media titles online. Lessons and media are available for review at school by contacting your child’s teacher. Lessons only are also available at the City of Fairfax Regional Library (this location does not have media).
FLE program descriptions and opt-out forms are available on the FCPS website.
The Edison Pyramid hosted a virtual parent information night this week. If you missed the session, the materials are now available in the All Parents/Guardians course in Schoology.

Calendar Spotlight
November is National Family Engagement Month
This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Strong family support is vital to student well-being and success.
FCPS has many resources designed to increase engagement and partnerships with families while fostering academic success and social-emotional growth.
Additionally, every school has a family liaison who available to welcome and orient families, and help them understand the school's culture, policies, procedures, and practices. Clermont's family liaison is Carolina Guido-Parada. They can help connect families to resources in the community. Family liaisons might also assist a family in transitioning to a new school and encourage family-school partnerships to help ensure their student's success and healthy development.
If you have questions or would like more information, you may email Mrs. Guido-Parada at cguidoparada@fcps.edu, or visit FCPS’ website for a list of region representatives.
