What's Happening at Mount Eagle November 10, 2023

This week, we celebrated Veterans Day by welcoming some of our military families to our All School Meeting. We learned about different service jobs and about how traveling around the world can be part of military life. Thank you to all of our veterans for your service!

Parent Meeting: Referral Process for Advanced Academics

Parents of students in Grades 2-6 have the option to refer their child for Full-Time Cluster services for the next school year. The deadline for all parent referrals is Friday, December 15.

Ms. Denise Meade, our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART), will hold a parent meeting on Tuesday, November 14 to explain the referral process. It will be held on Zoom 6:15-7:00pm. The link will be sent to all families that morning. Even if your child is not in Grades 2-6, you are welcome to attend and learn about the process and timeline.

National Family Engagement Month

November is National Family Engagement Month! This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers.  Over 35 years of research shows that the most effective way to increase student achievement is for families to be actively involved in their children's education. Family engagement is a shared responsibility between home, school, and the community. The importance of family engagement will be highlighted during the month of November as we celebrate and strengthen family-school partnerships together.

How Is My Child Doing?

A paper copy of your child's Progress Report will go home in the Thursday folder next week. You can view it online in ParentVue beginning Wednesday, November 15. As always, if you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.

This is a shortened week, so there will be no Weekly Communication Sheet from your child's teacher. You'll get one next Friday, November 17.

Federal Impact Aid Forms: Due next Friday

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. To make it easier, the form is now available online in SIS ParentVUE. Please note that only the enrolling parent can complete it in ParentVUE.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

Once logged in to SIS ParentVUE, click “Online Packets” in the top right corner. Then, select “Federal Impact Aid Survey.” Get more information.

Need to Register for ParentVUE?
