 Hello Mustangs,
It has been another phenomenal week at South County Middle School, as well as the end of the 1st quarter. I want to thank everyone for their continued support regarding their student(s), the staff, and our community. I had an opportunity to attend some of our Civics classes this week and witness some of the “Presidential Debates.” Students were knowledgeable about the topics they were speaking to and were able to answer questions that were from the audience and other candidates. Additionally, I observed some of our students’ route running skills during Health & PE as they were wrapping up their Flag Football unit. Nevertheless, I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend, and as always, please contact us to share any feedback, questions, or concerns.

Ms. Norris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to South County Middle School, having served as a passionate and dedicated school-based leader for the last 20 years. Ms. Norris relocated to Sarasota, Florida in July 2022 where she was an assistant principal at Riverview High School. However, she is excited to return to FCPS in this new role to serve our community.

Federal Impact Aid Survey: Now Online
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. To make it easier, the form is now available online in SIS ParentVUE. If you did not fill out the form online, your student should have brought one home with them on Wednesday. If you need a form, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the main office, 703-690-5500, and ask for one.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Once logged in to SIS ParentVUE, click “Online Packets” in the top right corner. Then, select “Federal Impact Aid Survey.” Get more information.

Lockers
If your student needs a locker, then please have them see their counselor. We do have a limited number of lockers available, due to not using our second-floor lockers. Therefore, all students who receive a locker will have it downstairs. Additionally, every student has access to their PE locker.
Tardy Sweeps
We will implement tardy sweeps during 2nd quarter. Therefore, from November 8 – 10, we will have multiple tardy sweeps throughout the day. After that, we will decrease the number of tardy sweeps with a hope to improve students’ timely attendance to class.
