Fairfax Academy,
What an incredible October culminating in our 5th annual Career Experience Expo. We had over 30 presenters from across the DMV area giving workshops in voiceovers, interview skills, audition techniques, social media, branding yourself and more. It was an incredible day and we are so happy our students were able to learn alongside us and represent the Academy so well.
As we start to close out the first quarter of the year, a few reminders:
- We have an early release tomorrow. Fairfax High School students follow the FHS bell schedule. AM shuttle riders and drivers will attend at their regularly scheduled time and buses will depart at 9:45am. MD and PM feeder school students will not have a shuttle to join us.
- Please make sure you are calling in any of your student’s absences in addition to notifying their base school. Unfortunately, that information does not come our way from base schools.
- We always receive many questions about seeing Academy grades in SIS. When logged into your ParentVUE account, scroll down past your student’s base school courses and you’ll see Fairfax Academy listed as a separate school. (Please note, the grade will appear as an N/A on the base school side.)
Lastly, it’s the time of year when we collect nominations for outstanding employee awards. If you have an Academy faculty or staff member that you want to nominate, please follow the directions below.
We hope all our students are able to rest and recharge during their long weekend.

College visit season is almost complete - it's been exciting sharing college information with our students. One college visit remains for the month of November.

Nominations are now open for the Outstanding Employee Awards! Each year, FCPS recognizes staff members in several different categories. Anyone can submit a nomination - staff, students, families, community members. Please think about those staff who have made an impact in your life, your student's life, or who is deserving of this recognition.
To submit a nomination for a Fairfax High School Outstanding Employee in one of the categories below, please complete the nomination through the links below. You may nominate an employee in one or more categories. All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The google form link has more information regarding the criteria and eligibility requirements for each of these awards. The categories are:

Outstanding Leader
Outstanding Professional Employee
Outstanding Operational Employee
