Principal's Message

Admin Team

Dear Brookfield Families,

We have had a fabulous first quarter! There is much to celebrate, and we encourage you to ask your child what they are most proud of accomplishing.  We also want to recognize the incredible work of our teachers and staff. They make Brookfield a wonderful place to learn and grow.

We were delighted to host many of you for parent conferences last week. As parent conferences continue, we request that you bring your hopes and dreams regarding your child’s education to share with their teacher. We care so much for your children and hope to continue to build partnerships with you to support their growth and development.

Next Wednesday (11/15/23) is our second PTA meeting of the year. We’re offering a parent workshop on Student Wellness and the Zones of Regulation (details below) prior to the meeting. We hope you will come and learn more about all the great things happening at our school!

Hope to see you soon,

Ellen Mukai

Educate Fairfax Announces Brookfield Art Program as Grant Winner

Art Student Picture

Congratulations to Brookfield’s art teachers, Ms. McKay and Ms. Gong, who submitted a grant proposal that was awarded by Educate Fairfax.

The proposal’s goal is to teach Brookfield’s students about art-related careers from experts working in their field. Students will initiate a pen pal exchange with artists to learn about their work. At the end of the school year, students will create an art piece inspired by what they learned from this exchange. We are very excited to see the ways this proposal inspires our students – now and in the future.

Congratulations, again, to our art teachers!

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!

Regarding student attendance, we are seeing an increase in children being out of school for multiple days and weeks at a time. While we understand that our students have families that live all over the world, we also know that the impact on your child's learning is significant when they are not in school. There is no amount of reading, writing, or math that will make up for core instruction that is missed each day during their absence. As the holidays approach, it is important that you know we will be teaching and assessing students through the last day before the Thanksgiving holiday and Winter Break.

Please be sure your child attends school every day this holiday season so your child is not in a position where they will need to catch-up on assignments and learning time missed. Our priority will always be your child's academic, social, and emotional success in school, and their daily attendance in class every day makes a big difference.

Thank you for all you do to prioritize your child's education in our partnership. We appreciate you!

Thank You Voters! 2023 School Bond Referendum Passed

TY Voters

Thank you to the Fairfax citizens who supported the 2023 Bond Referendum. Some of the money from the bond vote is expected to fund the next phase of our school’s construction project.

Roughly 67% of those voting in the 2023 election supported the $435 million bond referendum, continuing a long history of support of school bond approvals in Fairfax County.

Stay engaged as we build our future. Keep up-to-date on construction and capital improvements across FCPS by visiting our Capital Improvement Project webpage.
