Friday, October 27-- LJMS
In an intramural basketball tournament featuring five area middle schools on Friday, the team from Luther Jackson stood out, going 4-0 on the evening while showcasing a mix of sharpshooting and solid post play. Coached by Mr. Brandon Bailey and Ms. Jazmine Carter, the Tigers started the night in a battle with the visiting Kilmer Cougars, proving to be their toughest test of the evening, until a physical matchup with the Poe Ravens in their fourth game of the evening. Top scorers for the Tigers were Bennett Blair, Gavin Singhvi, and Walker McCann. It was a great night of basketball, and everyone involved had a good time. Special thanks to the Sports Leadership Class at Falls Church High School, under the management of Betty Schlageter-Prettyman and FCHS Teacher Ryan Healey, for providing logistical support. Scoreboard/clock operators, crowd management, and referee duties were all handled by these LJMS alums.

FCHS Leadership Students provided logistical support for the event.
The historic LJMS cross country team had a strong showing Saturday at Stone Middle School, where 7th grader Patrick Verasin finished first overall in the boys race with a time of 11:37.6. Many thanks to Coaches Janet Brown and Mike Klucker, and Athletics Coordinator Max Bair for their leadership this season!
Now that the fall season has ended, athletes can set their sights on the spring track & field season with signups/team registration starting in November. Details will be made available soon!
Signing up for after-school programs remains an important first step in participation each week. On Fridays, the new sign-up form for the next week is made available, and a message is posted on the "All-School" Schoology course, letting students know the form is available. Signups are open until the end of D lunch (12:45pm) each day, if a student plans to stay that day.
As we finish up Q1 this week, the following schedule of activities is still in effect. Q2 will bring about a few modifications in the IM sports offerings, as we shift to the winter months. A new schedule of activities will be posted as soon as it is finalized.
