Students are encouraged to wear RED, WHITE, and BLUE to celebrate Veterans Day on Friday, November 10th.
SCA is partnering with our school Kindness Ambassadors to celebrate World Kindness Week between November 13th-17th! Our next spirit day will take place on Wednesday, November 15th, where we encourage students and staff to wear shirts with positive messages. We can’t wait to support one another by spreading words of kindness and empathy!
Looking for a way to celebrate World Kindness Week? Help our community stay warm this winter! SCA will be collecting new or gently used winter wear (coats, hats, gloves, scarves) between November 13th-December 1st. Please drop off your donations at our warm tree located in the main hallway near the library overlook.

The deadline to submit a nomination is November 17th, 2023.
To submit a nomination for a Lees Corner Outstanding Employee in one of the categories below, please click the title of the award and complete the nomination form. You may nominate an employee in one or more categories.
All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The nomination form has more information regarding the criteria for each of these awards and the eligibility requirements.
Please note that if your nominee is selected to represent Lees Corner ES, you will be asked to complete a much more involved 2-3 page nomination packet.
Outstanding Teacher – a teacher, counselor, or librarian with 3 or more years of experience
Outstanding New Teacher – a teacher, librarian, or counselor with less than 3 years of experience
Outstanding Principal – a building principal with 4 or more years of experience
Outstanding Leader – assistant principal, director of student activities, director of student services
Outstanding Operational Employee – administrative and office assistants, custodial staff, food service staff, instructional assistants, PHA (public health assistant), PHTA (public health training assistant), parent liaisons
Outstanding Professional Employee – SBTS (school-based technology specialist), TSSpec (technology support specialist), psychologist, social worker, resource teachers that serve in an administrative role

Lees Corner Elementary School would like to invite our community’s military family members for breakfast, a performance from our chorus, and an opportunity to speak with students and share their experiences on the morning of Friday, November 10th in celebration of Veterans Day.
We are very thankful for all the military family members in our school community and we want our students and staff to have an opportunity to make connections with you. We would like to invite all the Active Duty, Reserve, and retired members of our Armed Forces in the Lees Corner community to join us on this important day.
On November 10th at 9:15 am, we invite veterans to a breakfast reception, followed by a possible visit to a classroom, to share a little bit about themselves and their service to our country.
RSVP: If you, or one of your family members, are an active Duty, Reserve, or retired member of our Armed Forces and are interested in joining us on Friday, November 10th at 9:15 am please RSVP here by Tuesday, October 31st. We look forward to seeing you on November 10th.

We are excited to announce a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the military service of our families’ veterans. A veteran is anyone who has served OR is currently serving our country in any branch of the Armed Forces. You are invited to share a photograph of the veteran, or veterans, in your family. The photograph can be of the individual member who served in the military or one of your entire family with the veteran. These photographs will be included in a slideshow that will be displayed in the cafeteria during the Veterans’ Day Breakfast and during lunch time on Friday, November 10, 2023.
Please email one digital image to Mike Lis (melis1@fcps.edu) by Wednesday, November 8, 2023, and include the following information in the body of the email.

The Digital Ecosystem Library project team is working on collecting user feedback to identify enhancements that will help improve the user experience. We need your help! Please provide your input in this Digital Ecosystem Library Feedback Form by November 10. Staff, parents, and students are all invited to respond. This form will also be linked on the Digital Ecosystem Library.
Elementary English Language Arts basal instructional resources may be accessed in person and online from November 15, 2023, until noon on December 15, 2023. Digital materials for public review and comment will be available on the Elementary Language Arts Basal Resource Review website. Those reviewing instructional materials may complete an electronic comment sheet that will be available on the website during the review period.
Hard copies of instructional materials will be available for review at:

Materials may be reviewed at Pimmit Hills Center Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitors should enter through door #4 and check in at the main office or with the building coordinator on duty.
All community feedback will be shared with the review committee and with School Board members before the vote at the School Board regular meeting.
