Atoms Athletics Recap

A quick recap from the week is below.

Atoms Field Hockey season came to an end after a back and forth battle in the Occoquan Region Quarterfinals vs Robinson that resulted in a 2-1 loss for the Atoms. The Atoms had another great season on the field and look to return to district Championship form next year as they return a big core of players from this years team.

Atoms Volleyball completed their season with a loss to TJ in the first round of the district tournament Monday evening. The Atoms were a lot of fun to watch this year. Their record doesn't reflect the passion, energy, and grit the Atoms played with this year! It was awesome to watch them compete each game. The Atoms lose four seniors but return a core of players that look to build on the success of the 2023 season!

Atoms Cross Country completed their final run of the year in the National District Championship meet Thursday at Burke Lake. Terry Moreno and Kiera Dalrymple were the first finishers for the Atoms. Both teams ran hard but came up short in qualify for the Occoquan Regional Championships. Each runner improved their times throughout the year and many of them look to build upon that as they head into Indoor Track.

Atoms Football got a whole team effort win over Lewis last night. The Atoms played their most complete game of the year, led by a three touchdown performance from quarerback Ben Diconi. The Atoms defense had a bend dont break mentality as they held the Lancers to a shutout. The Atoms hit the road for their final game of the season at Rock Ridge next Friday.

Atoms Boosters Concession Stand Help

Special Ask... Atoms After School Snack Bar

As many of you know, the Atoms Athletic Boosters has been able to open our concessions stand after school for your children to grab a bite to eat prior to heading to their activities. If your schedule allows, please consider volunteering 1 day a week or even just 1-2 days a month. The hours are 3:15-4:15. This is a rare benefit in Fairfax County that we are able to provide for our kids, but we can’t do it without parent help. Please contact at odessapmurray@gmail.com or (703) 626-9647 if interested in helping.

Partners for Safe Teen Driving

Included in Grade 10 Health & PE is one quarter, or 30-36 hours, of in-classroom driver education. To get your driver’s license in Virginia, you must successfully complete, or pass, the classroom portion of driver education. You must also attend a 90-minute parent-teen traffic safety program, Partners for Safe Teen Driving, or PSTD, with a parent/guardian. Annandale High School is hosting five (5) PSTD presentations this school year, one each quarter and two during the fourth quarter. They are free to students enrolled in Health & PE 10 at Annandale HS and begin at 6:30pm in the auditorium. You must attend with a parent/guardian, arrive ON TIME as the door is locked at 6:30pm, and you must remain the duration of the presentation for your attendance to be verified. Choose a date convenient for you and your parent/guardian. You may attend a session outside of your Driver Education quarter.
