Your Bryant community sure hopes this newsletter finds you and your family well this glorious fall season. Some of the prettiest pink skies show up in our Bryant parking before the start of the school day. Our Principal, Karen Hertel, captured the beauty of this time of year. |

During the month of October, many Bryant students participated in a unique program called Jobs for Virginia Graduates (JVG). JVG prepares students for the future and life outside of school. Its mission and delivery is designed to impact a young person's success in education and employment. Bryant is very excited to have Erika Hisey, a former ESOL teacher, at Bryant as the JVG Specialist. Ms. Hisey is busy getting to know the students, guiding them in their preparations for the world of work, and organizing a lineup of career speakers.
Did you know that FCPS has a partnership with George Mason University's Dream Catchers program? Dream Catchers is an incredible program that identifies and supports students in achieving their dreams to attend and graduate from college. Bryant has several outstanding students who participate; they are Zeriah A., Amal L., Maria M., and Philip S. This picture is from a recent field trip to George Mason. We are grateful for our Career Center Specialist, Ms. LaCour-Williams, for building this strong foundation with the Dream Catchers Program.

On October 18th, 27 Bryant students traveled to George Mason University for the 23rd Annual ALCANZA College Fair. Students were provided information essential to the college application and financial aid process all with the goal of pursuing their education beyond high school. Thanks to School Counselors, Ms. Meletiche and Ms. Veenstra, and our Family Liaison, Ms. Santana Carrasco, for chaperoning our students. |

We bet you didn't know that Bryant used to be Groveton High School back in the days. Groveton alumni came back to their old stomping ground to visit Bryant High School on Saturday, October 7th. Many of the individuals in this picture were from the class of 1973 and were celebrating their 50th year reunion. This group shared how much they enjoyed touring Bryant, how the building had changed, and just reminiscing about the "good, old days." |

This school year, school staff are working to teach students about mental health and how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend. We are using a program called Signs of Suicide (SOS). The program teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help. All students will participate on November 27th and 29th through their English class.
We encourage you to visit www.sossignsofsuicide.org/parent for information on warning signs for youth suicide, useful resources, and some of the key messages students will learn. You can also view this parent video to learn more.
If you haven't already done so this school year, please fill out the application for your child's Free and Reduced Price Meals. All the information and online application is available at this link.

It's hard to believe that the end of the 1st quarter is quickly approaching. On Friday, November 3rd, students will be released two hours early from school. There is NO school on Monday, November 6th and Tuesday, November 7th. We look forward to welcoming your students back on Wednesday, November 8th. Please reach out with any concerns you might have. We look forward to partnering with you and your families this school year.
