Our Puzzles & Pizza Night on Tuesday was a great success! Thank you to everyone who attended (over 75 people!) and to our PTO for organizing this event. Our next big event is BINGO Night on November 17. We will need everyone to help out with prize donations. See below for how you can help out.

Federal Impact Aid Forms:
Have You Completed Yours? It's easy to do!
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. To make it easier, the form is now available online in SIS ParentVUE.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Once logged in to SIS ParentVUE, click “Online Packets” in the top right corner. Then, select “Federal Impact Aid Survey.” Get more information.

Family Fun Events
Edison Pyramid Football Fun on Friday, October 20 6:30pm TONIGHT!
Kids can run the field at 6:40pm before the football game. All students get in free with a paying adult ($5). All of the schools in the Edison pyramid will be there to show our school spirit.
Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 22 3-5pm Mount Eagle parking lot
Come trick or treat early with our first "Trunk or Treat." Cars will be decorated and giving out candy to children in costumes This is an event for the Mount Eagle community with children in Grade 6 or younger. All students must be with a parent. No middle or high school students, please.
BINGO Night on Friday, November 17 6:30pm
This annual community event is a Mount Eagle tradition. We need donations for prize baskets. See flier below for grade level donations needed.
Advanced Academics Information
Parents of students in Grades 2-6 have the option to refer their child for Full-Time advanced academic services for the next school year. The deadline for all parent referrals is Friday, December 15.
Ms. Denise Meade, our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART), will hold a parent meeting on Tuesday, November 14 to explain the referral process. It will be held on Zoom 6:15-7pm. The link will be sent to all families that morning.

Nominate an Outstanding Mount Eagle Staff Member
This fall, our staff has gone above and beyond expectations. One way to recognize their efforts and excellence is through the FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards program. Nominations are now open. To submit a nomination for a Mount Eagle Elementary Outstanding Employee, please complete the nomination through this Google form link. You may nominate one employee at our school or multiple employees (one individual may only nominate one employee per category.)
All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The Google form link has more information regarding the criteria for each of these awards.
The deadline to submit a nomination is November 10th.

Calendar Update: Tuesday, March 5, 2024
The Fairfax Board of Elections has requested that schools be closed on Tuesday, March 5, to accommodate the administration of the 2024 presidential primary election.
March 5 will be a school holiday for students and a virtual School Planning Day for teachers. Central offices and school offices will remain open. SACC will remain open, as it does on other professional work days.

Get Involved with Your PTO
At Mount Eagle, every parent is a member of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). It's a great way to connect with other parents, learn about how to support your child and to have fun! There are many ways where you can share your voice, talents and time. Check out the PTO Website for more information. It's available in multiple languages.

Do you have questions about attendance or food/drink at school or what students can wear? If so, please check out our Parent/Guardian Handbook on our Mount Eagle website. It's available with translations. Click here to access it. Of course, if you have a question about a situation that is not listed, reach out to your child's teacher or an administrator. Their contact information is at the bottom of this newsletter.
