Principals’ Corner
Dear GBW,
We are very excited to help support our Chantilly Pyramid Night at the Chantilly Football Game on Friday, October 20th! We hope you will come on out and join me to show your Chantilly spirit. If you’ve never been to a high school football game this is a wonderful opportunity to experience a high school sporting event as a family.
Students who wear their GBW t-shirts will be given free admission to the game on Friday with the purchase of an adult ticket.
Let’s go Chargers!

What Does My Child’s Progress Report Really Mean?
As we approach the end of the first grading period, it is important to know what your child’s progress report really means. Unlike in middle and high schools, the elementary progress report is designed to show families how students are progressing towards the mastery of a concept; grades are not meant to reflect a pass or fail. When students recieve 1’s and 2’s this simply means that they have not independently mastered the standards taught YET. It is important to know that some reporting categories are revisited multiple times over the course of the year, and may show mastery in one reporting category during a grading period but not another. This is because there are multiple standards within each reporting category. If ever you have questions, reach out to your teacher to schedule a conference to discuss further. To learn more about the FCPS Standards Based progress report, or to see what standards fall within a reporting category, please visit the FCPS ES Grading and Reporting Handbook.
