CES Weekly News 10.24.23

Note from Administration

Celebrations of our student's work continue to happen around the school.  Artwork and classwork adorn the halls and classrooms and I hope your children share with you pride in their work. Some grade levels have celebrated  culminating learning events such as our 5th grade "Big Dig" and 1st grade Park design showcase and 6th grade Galactic Games.

We also just wrapped up a very successful book fair led by our PTA chair, Jill Roth, and Librarian, Ashley Schorr. It was wonderful to see so many families in on Tuesday at our Taco Night and purchasing books for our children to read. This event is a win win for our school as families. I am so thankful for your support.

I know several of our classes have been on a field trips and have enjoyed their experiences. I want to thank all of the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to chaperone these important learning opportunities.

To further our learning and celebrate our community, students will enjoy an upcoming assembly to focus on Growth Mindset, Kindness and Leadership and further develop our theme "Together We are Better." As a community, it truly is the collaboration and teamwork that will help build up our students. We look forward to celebrations in November including an end of quarter Pep Rally and Turkey Trot to cheer on our chipmunks. Be sure to mark the Turkey Trot on your calendar now to come and cheer on our Chipmunks!

As we wrap up 1st quarter, we also are welcoming parents in for conferences to ensure a path of success for each child. Your collaboration and support is crucial to our work. FCPS has set aside some time the beginning of November for planning and conference time. In order to help teachers meet the needs of meeting with all families, conferences will be 10-15 minutes opportunities to connect on your child's start to the school year.

SAVE THE DATES!  We hope you will look through the upcoming events and join us at our upcoming Parent Coffee opportunities. Please note we have three parent engagement opportunities coming up with a focus on AAP Level IV screening process, Safety Conversation, and Positive Behavior Supports. We look forward to seeing you at these sessions!

Sincerely,

Stacy Kirkpatrick and Farris Thomas
