Hello, Scottie families!
We are looking forward to the PTO Fall Fest this evening, from 6-8 PM! There will be food, games, an opportunity to visit the Book Fair, and tons of fun! The PTO also encourages costumes to be worn at the Fall Fest. Details on the Parent Night Out PTO fundraiser, scheduled for tomorrow night, are also included in the PTO section below. Be sure to check it out!
Next Thursday we have our October Parent Coffee. Parents are invited to attend from 8:35-9:20 AM, with updates from our band, strings, music/chorus, and PE teachers. We hope you are able to make it!
Friday (October 27) is our next SCA Spirit Day - Costume Day! SCA Spirit Days are a fun opportunity for Bonnie Brae students and staff to show their Scottie spirit. As always, everyone is encouraged to participate in Spirit days, either by dressing up, or wearing Bonnie Brae colors of blue and white!
Finally, on the horizon we have our BBES Math & Literacy Night, scheduled for November 9, from 6-7:30 PM. More details below and to come, but we are excited to share in a fun night of learning with our Bonnie Brae families.
We hope to see you this evening. Have a wonderful weekend!

Costumes must:
- Be appropriate for school.
- Be respectful to all cultures.
- Refrain from themes of violence.
- Not have any weapons.
- Have faces visible (health related face coverings are acceptable).
- Allow for full participation in the day.
- Not be bulky so that it would interfere with learning (self or others).
Veterans Day Breakfast & Classroom Visits
Bonnie Brae is excited to be able to host the Veteran's Day Breakfast and Read Aloud event on Friday, November 10th beginning at 8:30 am in the cafeteria for Bonnie Brae families and staff who currently serve or have served in the armed forces. We extend a warm invitation to our honored veterans to start their day with a delicious meal, followed by a special opportunity to read a book and share their stories with our students. It's a chance for our students to learn, connect, and express their gratitude. If you can submit a photo, join us for breakfast, or visit a classroom, please complete this google form. We will use photos submitted from the community to create a slideshow both for the event and for our Bonnie Brae Bark News Show to share with students.
Donations/Volunteers Needed for Veterans Day Breakfast
To make this event truly special, we kindly request breakfast donations from our generous community. Let's come together to celebrate our heroes and the values they embody. Please consider signing up by Tuesday, November 7th to help make this event a success. Thank you!

Federal Impact Aid Survey: Now Online
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. To make it easier, the form is now available online in SIS ParentVUE.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Once logged in to SIS ParentVUE, click “Online Packets” in the top right corner. Then, select “Federal Impact Aid Survey.” Get more information.

Updates to School Facilities
Trends of development and housing turnover are inconsistent across the county and continue to present a facilities capacity challenge. Spaces in schools may be outdated from when buildings were originally built.
Projects funded by the 2023 Bond Referendum may be updated to meet the current needs of students or may increase space to help relieve overcrowding and provide spaces for small-group and specialized instruction.
Additionally, all updates to school facilities are made with energy efficiency in mind. FCPS has 220 buildings and 26.5 million square feet of building space. These buildings cost tens of millions of dollars to power each year. As the footprint of FCPS continues to grow, conserving energy for cost savings and greenhouse gas emissions reductions is of the utmost importance.
The 2023 Bond Referendum will be on the ballot in November. Vote on Tuesday, November 7. Learn more about registering to vote.
