Fort Belvoir Primary School Weeks at a Glance 10/13/2023

Principal's Note

Fort Belvoir Primary Families,

Sound the alarms everyone because our students are excited about learning! We want to thank the Fort Belvoir Fire Department for taking the time to speak with our students. They educated the students on fire safety tips. Students were able to participate in an art contest about fire safety. This year we had two amazing students win the contest. The department celebrated the students by allowing them to ride to school on the fire engine with the sirens going. This moment brought so much joy to our students and families.

Belvoir Housing Village Employees

We are extremely appreciative of the Belvoir Housing Village volunteering to spruce up our campus. The group also supported students with their Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) lesson. This group is dedicated to ensuring our campus is visually welcoming for all. Please join us in thanking them for their service to the school community.

Book Character Parade - Friday, October 27

The school is overjoyed to invite all families for our Book Character Parade! This event will be taking place on the bus loop located in front of the school at 2:50 - 3:20pm. Everyone will come outside dressed as their favorite book character.

Students are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favorite book character on this day. We are asking families to not dress students in any scary or gory costumes. They are also welcome to bring a book featuring the character to hold up during the parade. Families are encouraged to come and wave at the kids while the parade is happening.

After the parade students will return to class for a culminating activity. Immediately after school, the PTO is hosting their annual Trunk or Treat in the parking lot at the Fort Belvoir Hospital on the installation. We would like for everyone to support this event.

Fort Belvoir Primary Harvest Luncheon

Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid

The Impact Aid Program is a federal grant program designed to directly compensate local school districts that have been financially impacted by federal activities. The program's mission is to reimburse local school districts for local revenues lost due to the presence of federally owned and therefore tax-exempt property. Your support in identifying students with federal connections will ensure that FCPS can obtain its fair share of grant funds from this program.

The surveys will be available online this year. Please log into ParentVue from October 16 to October 30.  Once logged in, please select the “Online Packets” tab at the top, then select “Federal Impact Aid Survey” from the drop down menu.

Any surveys not completed by October 31 will be sent home in Friday Folders on November 3. Please be sure to complete and sign the survey and have your child return the original (fax or email copies may not be sent) to their teacher no later than Thursday, November 16th.

For questions regarding the Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid, please call 703-329-7750 or email ImpactAid@fcps.edu or visit https://www.fcps.edu/impact.  Additional information about Impact Aid programs and grants is available on the U.S. Department of Education's website at DoED Impact Aid Programs.
