CES Weekly Update 10.16.23

kickball kickoff

Administrator's Note

Oh What a Night! Friday evening was a great time for our community as our 3rd Annual Kickball Kickoff. The staff had a wonderful time in our challenge of the Remer's Rockets and Butler's Blasters. As we celebrate this year's retirements, we cheers Ms. Butler throwing out the first pitch to Mrs. Kohout who kicked the first ball.  Congratulations to our amazing staff on a job well done. It was a close game and while Remer's Rockets walked away with this year's victory, fun was had by all. Thank you to our PTA chairs for organizing this wonderful event for our community and feeding the staff prior to the event.

Parent Survey

We would love your feedback! As we work best to support our students, we also want to provide opportunities for connections on topics of importance to you. If there is a way we can further help support your child's experience here at school, we would love to have your feedback. We look forward to working together to help support our Chesterbrook community.

UNITY DAY - 10/18
Show Your Support for Chesterbrook's UNITY Day and WEAR Orange

Unity Day will be held on October 18th. The goal of Unity Day is to bring together students, parents, educators, and the community to emphasize the message that bullying is not acceptable, and that all students deserve to be safe in school, online, and in the community.

The color orange is commonly identified with the month of October and the autumn season. It is also the color that is associated with safety and visibility. Wearing orange on October 18th provides a catalyst for everyone to come together with a visual statement that our actions matter not only on one day, but every day. Show your Chipmunks Spirit of UNITY and our work to support Kindness, Acceptance and Inclusion and that we are all against Bullying of any type.

Digital Citizenship Week

CES will recognize Digital Citizenship Week throughout the week of October 16th - 22nd. It is important to collaborate on our work with students so they understand how to balance and safely use technology in their lives. Common Sense Media has many tools to support our work to help communicate safe and healthy practices of digital tools.  Families are encouraged to access the "Family Tech Planners" that can guide conversations with your children to make screen time safe and positive.

houses

5 Houses
One Chesterbrook Community

In October all grade levels have now kicked off houses.  Each Friday our 1st through 6th grade students meet in house meetings (kinder every other week) to build community outside of their regular homeroom and core classes. This provides students an opportunity to work on social emotional connections, positive character traits and build a positive school community.

We are recognizing students for their positive contributions to the school by earning points for positive behaviors and recognizing positive contributions by students with stars in our front showcase. Furthermore, students who are top point earners receive the "Student of the Month" recognition. They are displayed in our front showcase. We are so proud of our students making good choices and showing the CES has HEART characteristics. We are so proud of our first round of students below. Congratulations to Madeline, Katherine, Jack, Preston, Adam, Anna and Madeline.
