Principal's Message

Admin Team

Dear Brookfield Families,

It was wonderful to see everyone at the Fun Run on Wednesday and we easily met our Fun Run goal of raising $15,000 for our PTA! Congratulations and thank you for this outstanding show of support – we are grateful for the collective effort to raise these funds and cheer on our Broncos as they ran around the track! Way to go!

We hope to see many of you again next week at our Book Fair and curriculum night! There will be lots of games to play together and an opportunity to pick out some fantastic books to read with your child.

Sincerely,

Ellen Mukai

News and Notes

Important Notice: Roadwork on Lees Corner Rd.

Dear Brookfield Staff and Parents,

We want to inform you about upcoming milling and paving work on Lees Corner Rd., spanning from Rt. 50 to Pennsboro Dr. This maintenance activity is scheduled to commence on Monday, October 23 and continue throughout the week.

To minimize any potential disruption to our dismissal process, the construction crew is committed to completing their work by 2:30pm daily. However, we kindly ask that you exercise caution and allocate extra time for your commute while traveling through Lees Corner Rd., as the construction may lead to minor delays.

Your understanding and cooperation during this period are greatly appreciated, and we thank you for your continued support.

Federal Impact Aid Survey: Now Online

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. To make it easier, the form is now available online in SIS ParentVUE

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

Once logged in to SIS ParentVUE, click “Online Packets” in the top right corner. Then, select “Federal Impact Aid Survey.” Get more information.

🗳️ Calendar Update for March 5 Presidential Primary

The Fairfax Board of Elections has requested that schools be closed on Tuesday, March 5, to accommodate the administration of the 2024 presidential primary election.

March 5 will be a school holiday for students and a virtual School Planning Day. Central offices and school offices will remain open. SACC will remain open, as it does on other professional work days.

BKES

Some of the money from the upcoming $435 million bond vote is expected to fund the construction phase of our school’s renovation project. The building and renovation of schools is not funded through the annual FCPS operating budget. Instead, voter-approved bonds allow payment for these projects over time.

⚠️ Know Our Security Terms

FCPS uses specific terminology to specify the actions school staff and students should take to ensure safety in a variety of situations. It is important for staff, families, and students to understand what the different terms mean and how they impact school operations.

Watch this video to learn more about the definitions of the security terms: lockdown; secure the building; and stay put, stay tuned.

If students, staff, or community members have a safety concern at school (that is not an immediate emergency), they should submit a tip to the FCPS Safety Tipline. In an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
