1. Message from Mr. Greata
Dear Woodson Community,
I am so thankful to our leadership students who provided a delicious, home cooked breakfast to our entire staff this morning! They arrived early to scramble eggs, flip pancakes, and pour juice. It was the perfect start to a big weekend that includes a Football game (7 pm), the opening weekend of our school play, The Trials (7 pm), and the marching band competition at JMU tomorrow.
There has been so much to celebrate this week, I want to share some of the highlights:
- Today is National Coaches Day and we have 108 athletic coaches who provide tremendous support and guidance to our student athletes throughout the year. Thank you for all you do!
- Please see the list of our National Merit Commended Scholars below and congratulations to all of those students on this distinguished accomplishment!
- We honored three groups of athletic/activities seniors this week from our cross country and field hockey teams, as well as our marching band. Congratulations!
- As Custodian Appreciation Week comes to a close, I want to again thank our AMAZING custodial staff for their tremendous stewardship of our building and pride in our school. Thank you!

Ninth grade students received the Signs of Suicide (SOS) lesson to learn how to spot symptoms of depression in themselves and others, and to discern what to do if they are concerned about themselves or a friend. Counselors and Clinicians supported students’ emotional wellness as a follow up. We encourage you and your student to peruse our Social/Emotional padlet which offers emergency information and resources for mental health support. It also links to our Woodson Wellness google site for students to use when they need brain breaks and stress relief.
On October 11, we will host the PSAT for 10th and 11th grade students and the SAT for seniors who registered (9th graders stay home). Results can be accessed within students’ college board accounts in December (students need to create an account).
