Fort Belvoir Primary Families,
Welcome, Fall, to Fort Belvoir Primary! It’s a wonderful time of year as we transition into the autumn season. Our school is a place of learning, growth, and community. Families are encouraged to join their child for lunch. Please be sure to check with your child’s teacher for designated times.
Blue Star Welcome Week at Fort Belvoir Primary
Last week we proudly celebrated Blue Star Welcome Week. This is a nationwide initiative to ensure military families feel a sense of belonging to their school communities. Did you know that there are approximately 14,500 military-connected students enrolled in FCPS?
As the son of a military officer and my brother a retired military officer, I appreciate the courage of students who miss their loved ones away protecting our nation. Please watch this Blue Star Welcome Week message from Dr. Reid. We are asking everyone within our school community to join us as we welcome new military-connected families to Fort Belvoir.
National Custodian Appreciation Day
We proudly say to others that we have the best custodian staff in FCPS. Our team works tirelessly to maintain our building. Every day teachers and students walk into a clean building. We could not ask for a better group of hard working individuals.
The Scholastic Book Fair
We are excited about the Scholastic Book Fair! Our amazing PTO is hosting the book fair for one week in the library. Families are encouraged to come see the great books and other great items tomorrow, October 3, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm. This is a great moment to inspire students to read more books. A portion of the proceeds will go to the school.
Oktoberfest
It was great seeing families at Oktoberfest. We would like to send a special thank you to FCPS School Board Member, Karen Corbett Sanders, for joining the Fort Belvoir Elementary Schools to kick off the 25th Year Anniversary Celebration.
Together we are Fort Belvoir strong!
In partnership,
Dr. LaZedrick (Zed) Jemison, Principal

Attendance Tip: Scheduling Family Trips or Events
Good attendance is an important life skill that will help students succeed in school and beyond.
When scheduling trips or family events, try to use weekends and school holidays, and refer to the FCPS Calendar when planning. Every day of learning is a day toward success. Keep in mind that absences add up quickly. Students who are absent 10% of the school year (or just two days per month) are considered chronically absent.
When possible, schedule appointments for your child outside of school hours. If your child needs to miss school because of an illness or another reason, you must report the absence to their school. Most schools have links to their attendance email or notification systems on their homepages. If you are unsure how to report an absence, please call your school’s front office.
Watch this video with tips on understanding our school calendar and visit our Attendance webpage for additional information. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!
FCPS Cares!
The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees at Fort Belvoir Primary ES. We love our FBES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!
