Principal's Message

Greetings Twain Families,

September 23rd through October 1st has been designated “Blue Star Welcome Week.” This is a nationwide campaign to build a better sense of community and belonging for those who serve our great nation and their students. At Twain Middle School we are fortunate to have over 80 Tigers who have identified as military connected students with parents or guardians who are active duty, reserve, or National Guard. FCPS has collected video testimonials of military connected students over the past few years, which I find to be a powerful way to showcase the strength, resilience and talent of our military connected students and their lived experiences. Last school year, Twain earned a three-year designation as a Purple Star School by demonstrating tireless dedication in the support of military connected students (see our award that is proudly displayed in our main office below). We are grateful for the sacrifices our military families make to protect us all and are honored to educate our military connected students each day in our classrooms. Our Superintendent, Dr. Reid, shared this message regarding Blue Star Welcome Week recently in her community message.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Gratefully,

Matt
