Notes from the Nest

In our SEES school community, we S.O.A.R., meaning that we demonstrate: Support, Optimism, Acceptance, and Responsibility.

Dear Eagles Community,

This week, we're focusing on being responsible Eagles. Responsibility is one of the core values in S.O.A.R., and it's important to us that our students learn to be responsible for themselves, their actions, and their belongings.

We've been talking to students about what it means to be responsible in different areas of their lives, such as at school, at home, and in the community. We've also been discussing the importance of making good choices and being accountable for their actions.

In addition to our classroom discussions, we're also working on building responsibility through our school culture. For example, we have a SEES Student Council Association (SCA) where students can take on responsibility for different tasks and projects around the school. They are working on planning October school spirit days and strengthening our Student Ambassador program.  This program pairs SCA students with new students to give them a school tour and important school information.

Our Military Kids Club had their first meeting of the school year today.  This club helps military connected students together to build friendships and community around shared experiences.  This was a great way to end our Blue Star Welcome Week where we invited Eagles to build a sense of belonging and community for all our military families who may not be living on a base.

I'm proud of the progress our students have made in developing responsibility. I see it in the way they take care of our school, the way they help each other, and the way they make decisions in their daily lives.

Sincerely,

April Martin

Proud Principal

Cardboard Challenge Fun

Our third annual Cardboard Challenge was a huge success! Friends and families worked together to design and build structures using just cardboard and duct tape.  This year, teams made detailed creations in response to the prompt:  What would an alien think SEES needs in order to be even more amazing?

Cardboard Challenge

The results were incredible, and included a roller coaster, a bowling alley, a Food-O-Matic, a statue of our mascot, a rocket, a giant pumpkin, a pool, and a spa for the SEES staff!   All of the students had a wonderful time at the Cardboard Challenge. It was a great opportunity for families to come together and have fun. Be on the lookout for the next Cardboard Challenge in the Spring!

Responsible Eagles

This week, we're celebrating our work on being responsible Eagles! We talked about what it means to be responsible, and how we can be responsible at school, at home, and in our community. We also discussed what it means to be responsible classmates, and how we can help each other learn and grow.

Here are a few ways that our Eagles can be responsible:

  • At school, Eagles can be responsible by completing their homework, listening to their teachers, and being respectful of their classmates.
  • At home, Eagles can be responsible by helping out with chores, being kind to their siblings, and listening to their parents.
  • In their community, Eagles can be responsible by being respectful of others, helping those in need, and taking care of the environment.

We are proud of our Eagles for their commitment to being responsible. Thank you for helping us to create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
