Message from Mrs. Castillo

Science

Thank you to all our parents who joined us for the first PTA meeting of the year last week and Kindergarten Family Engagement event.  This week, we look forward to a great week of learning, cooler fall temperatures, Freaky Friday, and 1st Movie Night of the school year! Please be sure to label your children's fleece jackets and sweatshirts so that they may be worn for the full season.

May all in our Jewish community observing Yom Kippur have had an easy and meaningful fast and day of reflection.

Freaky Friday - September 29

Freaky Friday

This Friday is our September Freaky Friday and we are representing lemons or lions for school spirit.  We welcome all students and staff to get in the fun representing team lemon (yellow) or team lion (navy). If you have any lemons or lions accessories, even better!  Not sure what to wear?  Your Lemon Road polo or spirit wear is always a great fit.

Parents, if your child had a birthday in the month of September, please reach out to your room parent and classroom teacher to help coordinate a small treat for the class.  Birthday treats are only distributed on Freaky Fridays, so don't miss out.

Positivity Project: Perspective

Perspective

Perspective is also referred to as wisdom. It is distinct from intelligence. People with this strength are sought out for advice. They see the big picture and can make sense of the world’s complexity. The strength of perspective gives individuals the ability to see to the heart of difficult questions and  achieve clarity. Importantly, they are also honest and behave in an ethically consistent manner. Those with this trait are often referred to as: insightful, observant, wise and astute.

Blue Star Welcome Week

Blue Star

Every year, approximately 600,000 military-connected families relocate. Most of these families move to new duty stations, while some transition out of the military and others transition in. Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to ensuring our military families feel welcomed and a sense of belonging to their local community.

Blue Star Welcome Week is an opportunity for our community to welcome our military-connected families and show them our appreciation for their service and sacrifices. Please help us welcome our military families during Blue Star Welcome Week, September 23 - October 1, 2023, and throughout the year! #BlueStarWelcomeWeekFCPS

Thank you to our military families and students for their sacrifices and service to our country.
