Dear Spring Hill Families,
We had a great week filled with learning and joy! What a fantastic way to end the week with our annual block party. It wonderful seeing so many of you enjoying great food and each other. In preparation for the block party, we held a pep-rally style event for students. Students had the opportunity to show their school spirit, participate in a panther cheer, and hear from their fellow classmates about what it means to be a Spring Hill Panther. It was fantastic!
Monday is a holiday, school will be closed for Yom Kippur.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Amy Briggs

The Digital Resource Parent Consent process is well underway for the 2023-2024 school year. September 29, 2023, is the due date for submitting the Digital Resource Consent Form, to ensure it falls after Back to School Nights. Parents will be able to submit or change their consent throughout the school year.
Parents are able to opt out their child out of any of the activities listed on this website
A boundary study is in process to provide capacity relief to Kent Gardens Elementary School (KGES). The potentially impacted schools include Chesterbrook ES, Franklin Sherman ES, Haycock ES and Churchill Road ES. Currently, scenarios do not include Spring Hill ES, but it is included in the scope, meaning it is possible that a future staff recommendation could include Spring Hill ES. It is important for all school communities to be aware of the study and the ways to stay informed.
At a community meeting on September 19, the FCPS Facilities Planning Services team presented five boundary change scenarios for an ongoing boundary study.
Information about these scenarios, including maps showing impacted neighborhoods, are posted on the Kent Gardens Capacity Challenges webpage. Large maps showing the different scenarios will also be available at our school for review.
In each of the boundary change scenarios presented:
-
The French Immersion program will remain at Kent Gardens Elementary School.
-
High school boundaries will not change.
-
Middle school boundaries will not change.
-
Neighborhoods may be assigned from one elementary school to another elementary school.
FCPS encourages families to review the information posted to the Kent Gardens Capacity Challenges webpage. You may review the materials and complete the online feedback form until October 4.

September is Attendance Awareness month! Whether students miss school because of illness or any other reason, missing school leads to learning loss.
As we ease Covid requirements, many families have questions about when students should/should not come to school. Often times, the symptoms are confusing and requirements for sending your child have changed!
Help your student succeed by encouraging them to attend as many days as possible, but do make sure your student stays home if they are sick. Visit FCPS’ website for information on when you should keep your child at home.
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify their teacher, so that assistance can be provided if needed. Please contact us as soon as you know your child will be absent.

Every year, approximately 600,000 military-connected families relocate. Most of these families move to new duty stations, while some transition out of the military and others transition in. Most of these moves take place over the summer, and Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to ensuring our military families feel welcomed and a sense of belonging to their local community.
Blue Star Welcome Week is a nationwide initiative to ensure military families feel a sense of belonging to their school communities. Fairfax County Public Schools is celebrating and acknowledging Blue Star Welcome Week. Learn more about Blue Star Welcome Week in FCPS.
When: Saturday, September 23 - Sunday, October 1, 2023
Why: Blue Star Welcome Week is an opportunity to empower military families to thrive as they serve. There are approximately 14,500 military-connected students enrolled in FCPS. Each year, one-third of our military families transition into or out of our district. Blue Star Welcome Week gives schools an opportunity to welcome and connect with their military families. The goal is to create a sense of belonging and ensure that our military families feel celebrated and welcomed into their school communities.
Fairfax County has many resources to offer our families. Click here to learn more.
