Dear Poplar Tree Families,

We had another busy week of learning!

Just a reminder that all FCPS schools and offices will be closed on Monday, September 25, for Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism. See the complete school year calendar. Learn more about Yom Kippur on Brittanica.com

May all in our Jewish community observing Yom Kippur have an easy and meaningful fast.

Have a wonderful weekend!

💡Uniquely YOU Spotlight 💡

As we are helping ensure everyone at Poplar Tree has the opportunity to celebrate their uniqueness, we also want to highlight what makes our staff members unique! This week's spotlight is on our 6th grade teachers, Ms. Horton, Ms. McGann, Ms. Nuckols, & Mr. Schroll!

YOU-seum Display Cases

Does your student have a cool collection, awesome art, terrific trophies, lotsa Lego builds, or anything else they’d love to share with the school? Introducing the YOU-seum! In line with our school motto this year, “Uniquely You,” the display cases next to the front office and at the top of the stairs are being dedicated to showcasing all the ways Poplar Tree Panthers are unique and special. Every two weeks, 3 students will be able to curate a collection of items they want to show off! Grown-ups can sign their student up for one slot on a first-come, first-served basis. Students may also collaborate if they choose. New sign-ups will be released at the beginning of the third quarter so if your student didn’t get a space this time, there will be another opportunity later in the year. Click HERE to sign up!

Yearbook design contest

Is your student-artist ready to share their talent with the whole school? We are looking for amazing artwork to feature on the front and back covers of the Poplar Tree 2023-2024 yearbook. Each submission must include the name of the artist and their teacher on the back, be submitted on a standard 8.5 x 11" piece of paper in portrait style (up and down). The words "Poplar Tree Elementary 2023-2024" and "Uniquely You" should feature prominently somewhere in the piece. Be creative and use lots of color! Cover art submissions are due to Mrs. Riddile in the library by Friday, October 6.
