The Cardinal Connection: CPES News Delivered to You
You Matter

Dear Cardinal Families,

The schools in the Madison Pyramid are continuing the ONE Campaign and this year’s theme is, "You Matter!" This theme highlights the importance of each individual in our school, community, and world.  We are excited to join the rest of the Madison Pyramid schools in displaying our “You Matter” banner in front of our school. You will notice that each schools’ mascot is represented on the banner to show our unity. Look for our banner the next time you drive by school!

As a reminder, there will be no school next Monday, September 25th. All FCPS schools and offices will be closed on Monday, September 25, for Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism. Learn more about Yom Kippur on Brittanica.com

Sincerely,

Allison Hoak, Principal

Jon Kemmerer, Assistant Principal

The Zones of Regulation at Home

Zones Toolbox

When using The Zones of Regulation with children, it is important to remember that, "All the Zones are OK." We are not aiming to "get back to the Green Zone," but rather decide if and how to take care of our feelings in the moment. The first step is for children to identify what zone they are in and then decide how to take care of their zone. This is self-regulation. Creating an individualized toolbox at home will serve as a visual reminder for children to pick a tool from their toolbox to use to help self-regulate themselves, independently. This gives students ownership and control, and helps them to better self-regulate at school. There are also pictures of calming tools that we use at school. These are great tools to add to your toolbox. Give this a try and email us a picture or two of your toolboxes!
