Welcome New Safety and Security Assistant

We are excited to welcome Malcolm Day to Cooper as our Safety and Security Assistant!  Families may be familiar with Mr. Day as a Langley HS Assistant Football Coach.

Thank you to Brian DiAntonio for filling this role in the interim and ensuring the safety of our students.

Langley HS Football Games

We love when Cooper Cougars attend Langley sporting events.

A few reminders: Middle school students must be accompanied by an adult. There are no backpacks, or outside food and drink in the stadium.

GO SAXONS!!

World Language Credit Exam

Registration for this year’s World Language Credit Exam is open until Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 4 p.m.  Late registrations will not be accepted.

World Language Credit Exam information can be accessed at: https://www.fcps.edu/academics/high-school-academics-9-12/world-languages/credit-exam-world-languages

To register, students should stop by to see their school counselor (4th block QST would be a great time to do this!). Please review the available Credit Exam Dates, Times and Testing Sites with your student before they see their counselor:

School Counselors:

Laura Wiley (7th grade students with last names A-K)

Jill Donnelly (7th grade students with last names L-Z)

Keyosha Lewis (8th grade students with last names A-K)

Michele Saint Germain (8th grade students with last names L-Z)

American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) 10

Cooper will be offering the AMC 10A this year on Wednesday, November 8th, after school at 2:30 PM. The AMC 10 is a 25-question, 75-minute multiple-choice examination in high school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. This test is for students in 10th grade and below and covers the high school curriculum up to 10th grade.

The AMC 8, which we will be hosting in January, is targeted for middle school students in grade 8 and below. The AMC 10 is NOT required for the AMC 8, and historically, the majority of our Cooper students interested in the AMC competitions take only the AMC 8. Details will follow in the coming weeks on how to register for the AMC 8.

If your student is interested in taking the AMC 10A, please sign up using this Google Form (https://forms.gle/2Fv8ztto51B1XdWr7). There will be a $5.00 administrative fee to take the test. The fee can be paid through MySchool Bucks. The deadline to register and pay the fee for AMC 10 is October 13th. As a reminder, the AMC 8 will be offered in January for those who are interested.

Please contact Lisa Walsh and lswalsh1@fcps.edu with any questions.

SEL Screener

October 17th, Cooper Middle School will administer the SEL Screener during block 4. Please review the E-notify that was sent to you on 09/06 for details.
