Join us in-person or online to learn more about the Advanced Academics programming opportunities available here at Bren Mar Park from our Advanced Academics Teacher, Yetta Williams. It will be from 6:30 - 7:30 in our library or online. The link will be sent in a TalkingPoints message on Wednesday evening.
Hi Families! This is your librarian, Mrs. Watson! I’m excited for another great year! If your child is in Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade, he or she will come to the library each week to hear a story, learn library skills, and check out books. If your child is in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade, he or she will come every other week for a longer lesson and learn how to use the library to find information and to also check out books. Please learn your child’s library day and return books to school on or before that day. Here are the steps to have your child check to see what books he or she has checked out:
- Open Destiny - the library catalog
- Click ‘Login’ in the top right
- Click the blue box that says ‘Sign in with Google’
- Your child should log in using his or her Google email address and personal password (the same way he or she logs into myON and Schoology)
- In the top bar, click ‘My Stuff’ and then ‘Checkouts’
- Now your child can see what books to find at home to return
Happy Reading!
Join us for our first Coffee and Conversation of the year on Friday, September 29th at 9:30 a.m. September’s topic, “Establishing Strategies and Routines for a Successful Year” presented by our school counselors, Mackenzie Cate and Michelle Kramer.
Bren Mar Park continues to welcome new students to our school community. Not all are able to provide requested School Supplies. Any community supports in donations of the following items would be much appreciated:
- Dry erase markers
- Composition, notebooks
- Colored pencils
- Spiral notebooks
- Dry-erase board
Passionate about helping select high-quality materials for our children? Bren Mar Park is seeking 2 individuals who are available to serve on a Challenged Materials Review Committee if a departmental committee is needed. Parents/guardians cannot be employed by FCPS and contact information should be provided. If willing, please email Principal Williams at cewilliams2@fcps.edu by Friday, September 29. We appreciate your support.
FCPS is committed to challenging all students through talent development efforts and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of advanced learners. All students have access to critical thinking, reasoning and problem-solving in level 1 services. Some students may access specific, advanced differentiation in specific subjects. Identified students in grades 3+ can receive part-time AAP services in weekly classes as part of the level 3 program. Identified students in grades 3+ can receive full-time services here at Bren Mar Park in the Local Level IV program or at the center school, Belvedere Elementary School. Students are identified through a screening process in which families are welcome to submit referrals and student work samples. For more information, visit

Family Information Night for Advanced Academics will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in the BMP library.

- This is my first year at BMP and in second grade. I am so excited to be here!
- I taught 7 years in 5th, a year as an interventionist, and a year in 4th.
- I went to Annandale High School, JMU, and GMU.
- My husband and I have one daughter, Marlena, who will be 2 in September. She’s pretty much my hobbies for now, but I also love to bake, read, and spend time outdoors.
