Friendly Reminder: Volunteer Orientation

McNair Upper is excited to welcome volunteers into our school to support staff and students. If you are interested in helping to support our school community during the school day, please attend one of our upcoming volunteer orientations.

Wednesday, September 27th 2:45 p.m.

Thursday, September 28th at 8:50 a.m.

Please attend only one.

Volunteers can help in the Mustang Stable during lunchtime, help shelf books in the library, serve as a room parent for your child’s classroom teacher to help organize events for your child’s class and stuff Thursday Folders. We are also seeking 6th grade families who may like to assist with planning our annual 6th grade promotion ceremony, luncheon, and party in June. More information will be communicated to 6th grade families in January with a meeting time to begin planning for our annual 6th grade festivities and traditions.

Friendly Reminder: Sneaker Safety in PE Class

shoe

The Commonwealth of Virginia requires regular physical education classes for all students.  Your child must be properly dressed in order to participate safely in PE classes.  This requires clothing that allows your child to run, jump, and actively participate safely in class.  Boots, dress shoes, sandals, crocs, and flip flops are not acceptable forms of shoes as they do not provide proper stability and safety for the students during physical activities.  Sneakers/tennis shoes are an essential requirement for our class.  Please help your child remember to wear sneakers on PE days. If a student repeatedly wears improper shoes, they will not be able to fully participate in class and this will impact your child’s PE effort grade.

In addition, we have added a special incentive in our PE All-Stars! If all students in a class wear sneakers, they will be able to earn an extra 10 yards on our football field to help their class earn a free choice day.

Thank you for your support in making sure your child wears sneakers on the days they have PE so that  they can actively and safely participate. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Luck and Ms. Smith,  PE teachers.
