Picture Day is tomorrow,Thursday, 9/21. All students will have their picture taken for the yearbook. Parents will also have the opportunity to purchase picture packets. Our picture company this year is Barksdale. Order forms are coming home in your child's Wednesday folders today. Please send them back with your child no later than Thursday, 9/21 (picture day). |
Blue Star Welcome Week is September 23- October 1st. There are approximately 14,500 military-connected students enrolled in FCPS. Each year, one-third of our military families transition into or out of our district. Blue Star Welcome Week gives schools an opportunity to welcome and connect with their military families. The goal is to create a sense of belonging and ensure that our military families feel celebrated and welcomed into their school communities. Please wear blue on Tuesday, September 26th to support our military families.
Band and strings registration is closed for this year. All class placements have been finalized and instrument learning is well underway! Thank you to all families who registered. We are looking forward to a great year filled with music!
Please mark your calendars for Monday, October 2nd from 10:00-11:00, for an AAP information meeting. Mrs. Lahr, our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, will be discussing the different levels of advanced differentiation offered in Fairfax County Public Schools. Another presentation will be conducted this fall to discuss the full-time AAP screening process. The meetings will be held in person.

Level IV Referrals for students New to FCPS as of January 1, 2023
- For any families new to FCPS who are interested in referring their child (Grades 3-6 only) to be screened for full-time AAP services (Level IV AAP), please submit a referral form electronically to Cathy Lahr cclahr@fcps.edu by October 15th, 2023. The AAP referral forms can be found here. More information to follow at the fall parent meetings.
The Oak Hill Health Room is looking for volunteers to help with Vision and Hearing Screening on October 4th from 9:00-12:00. Each year we screen every Kindergarten and 3rd grade student. If you can spare a couple of hours to help, it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Juliana Rampersad at jtrampersad@fcps.edu to sign up.

Presentation for Parents at Rocky Run MS
On Thursday, September 21st from 6:00 to 7:30 pm author Phyllis Fagel will speak on “Setting Kids Up for Healthy Friendships and Academic Success in Middle School and Beyond”. For planning purposes, Rocky Run would appreciate notification that you will be attending through this Google form.
Stem Fest at South County High School
Students are invited to participate in STEM FEST on Saturday, October 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at South County High School. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade can participate in robotics demonstrations, coding experiments, and more. High school students are invited to volunteer.
