Dear Haycock Families,
We are excited to learn that FCPS Transportation has consolidated some bus runs such that Haycock buses 01, 02, 04 and 07 will consistently be at school by 9:20 a.m. in the mornings. We anticipate these needed changes will go into effect on Wednesday, September 27.
FCPS is holding another Community Meeting regarding the Kent Gardens boundary changes on Wednesday, September 27 at Longfellow, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. We encourage you to look over the five possible scenarios on the Kent Gardens Capacity Challenges website. Four of the scenarios impact our Haycock boundary and all five scenarios impact our AAP boundary.
We had over 40 parents join us for two parent coffees this past week on the topic of Pathways to Sucess and Building Resilient Students presented by our school counselors, Ms. Veronique Lilienthal and Ms. Teresa Padgett. Here is a link to the information they presented at both the evening virtual coffee and the in-person coffee on Friday morning. Many thanks to both of them for this helpful information.
May all in our Jewish community observing Yom Kippur have an easy and meaningful fast.
With appreciation for your partnership,
Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu
Heather Boyd, Assistant Principal HABoyd@fcps.edu
Jody Delaney, Assistant Principal jmdelaney@fcps.edu

Blue Star Family Welcome Week- Sept. 23-Oct. 1
Every year, approximately 600,000 military-connected families relocate. Most of these families move to new duty stations, while some transition out of the military and others transition in. Most of these moves take place over the summer, and Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to ensuring our military families feel welcomed and a sense of belonging to their local community.
Blue Star Welcome Week is an opportunity for our community to welcome our military-connected families and show them our appreciation for their service and sacrifices. Throughout the week, FCPS will help ease their transition through events, messages, actions of welcome, and opportunities to make meaningful connections. Please help us welcome our military families during Blue Star Welcome Week, September 23 - October 1, 2023, and throughout the year! #BlueStarWelcomeWeekFCPS
Blue Star Family Welcome Week at Haycock
At Haycock, we will welcome our students from military families with messages and features on the morning news and provide popsicles for them on Thursday, 9/28.

At Haycock, we are celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month by sharing information on the news about important people in history, learning about Hispanic food and music, putting on a virtual Hispanic music concert, engaging in know the flag competitions, and playing Hispanic trivia games. Thank you to Ms. Borges and Ms. Munoz, our Spanish FLES teachers, who are helping us celebrate our Hispanic heritage this month.
