IMPORTANT INFO & EVENTS
Pass/Fail Deadline: Thursday, 9/21
- With parental/guardian approval, middle and high school students are given the option of taking one high school elective credit per school year on a pass-fail basis. For high school students, this may be applied to required health and physical education credits, world language credits, economics and personal finance requirements, and to credits other than those required for English, social studies, mathematics, and laboratory science.
- Students should discuss this option with their teacher and school counselor.
- Please submit Request for Pass-Fail Status form to the school counselor by Thursday, September 21.
Registration is open for the FCPS World Language Credit Exam
- FCPS offers testing in over 20 different languages. Students who take the exam may earn up to three World Language credits for levels one, two, and three for the language exam. The credits can fulfill the World Languages requirements for the Advanced Studies Diploma. Exams are scheduled on November 8 (Edison HS), November 9 (Centreville HS), and November 13 (Fairfax HS). Check-in for all exams begins at 4:30pm. Students must bring their printed exam confirmation and a valid photo ID. For more information (including languages offered and how to prepare for the exam), please see the World Language Credit Exam site.

Hidden in Plain Sight Program
- Join us October 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Madison High School.
- Register here: https://bit.ly/hipsmadison23
- The Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) program is an IN-PERSON interactive program for adults to be educated about the signs of risky behavior in teens and young adults. It touches on drug and alcohol use, mental health concerns, eating disorders, risky sexual behaviors and more.
- The PowerPoint presentation details red flags (props will be passed around) and how they are indicative of — or used in — risky behavior. We include up to date statistics and local trends, and law enforcement officers will share their experiences they have had in our community identifying risky behavior and helping to put kids on the right path to a healthy life. Let’s open the door to communicating with our teens!
- If you have questions related to substance abuse, please contact your Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist. Michael McNulty / mpmcnulty@fcps.edu / 703 319 9472.

One School | One Community | One World
Madison High School strives to create and maintain an identity affirming learning environment where our students embrace, support, and encourage each other where multiple forms of identity (i.e. race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, or disability) are recognized and regarded as assets for teaching and learning. We work to ensure school is a place where students feel safe and can be themselves. We do not tolerate hate speech, racist speech, bias, or acts of discrimination in our school. We want all students to feel a sense of belonging. We want to see all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to learning, growing, and building the best Madison High School for all our students. We are One School - One Community - One World.
