World Languages Credit Exam

FCPS intends to transition the World Languages Credit Exam to a digital format through an external vendor that assesses linguistic proficiency. FCPS will be piloting a digital language proficiency assessment during SY 2023-24. When students register for the 2023 World Languages Credit Exam, they will be offered the opportunity to participate in the pilot assessment for the following languages: ASL, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Telugu.

Students who are selected to participate in the pilot will take both the FCPS World Languages Credit Exam and the pilot assessment. Credit will only be awarded from the results of the FCPS World Languages Credit Exam. Students who are selected to participate in the pilot will be notified after registration closes on October 5, 2023, and will receive additional information in October/November regarding the logistics of the pilot assessment. Information regarding the pilot will be communicated to selected students through the student and parent contact information on record in SIS.

Registration opens on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. and closes on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. Late registrations will not be accepted. Credit exam information is available online.

CVHS Grading Information

You may have heard in the news and noticed in a recent FCPS Newsletter seen here that updates have been made to the FCPS grading policy.  The most notable change is that students may now receive zeroes on missing assignments.  This is a change from the past couple of years when 50% was the lowest grade.  CVHS has made adjustments to our grading policy to align with the FCPS expectations.  You can read more about the CVHS grading information here on the school website.

We are now in week four of school and approaching the mid point of the first quarter.  Students should have a few graded assignments in the gradebook.  It is important for students to stay caught up and work with their teachers to complete missing assignments; otherwise, the zero will have a big impact on their overall grade.  We encourage parents to have a SIS ParentVUE account where you can see student grades.

Our goal is for students to have a strong start with their grades!

New School Wide Activities & Athletics Calendars

We are excited to introduce our new school wide calendars to all our students, parents, and community members.

In order to help streamline and inform the entire community of important events and info, we have created two calendars for everyone in the Wildcat community to use. Included on the Student & Activities Calendar are the A & B days, club & organization events, and important dates. Creating this school calendar has also allowed us to attach important information that’s relevant to those events. Just click more details after clicking the event. Some events will have more information than others.

We’ve also created a Centreville Athletics Calendar that has all the events for each sports team listed in one location. All the information you see on this calendar is pulled from our Athletics Website. Anytime an event is added, updated, or cancelled there, it will be updated on the calendar.

Both calendars are easily viewable from our calendars page. Bookmark or add it to your favorites for easy access in the future.

Please know that this has been a tremendous effort and requires a substantial time commitment to keep updated. We will do our best to provide as much information here as possible but due to the number of events happening and people involved, we may not be able to keep everything 100% up to date.

If you have feedback on these calendars, you are welcome to submit your comments here.
