Greetings friends! At Dranesville this year we are focusing on building a sense of community and connection by fostering confidence, kindness, and new relationships with both students and trusted adults. Take a minute to read about Start with Hello Week below and learn how you can be part of this great initiative!
Start with Hello Week
Please Volunteer for 1 hour Monday morning!
The PTA is thrilled to bring back Start with Hello Week this year from September 18-23, and we need your help to get things started in a fun way. Please consider signing up for this one-time, one hour, smile-inducing volunteer opportunity!
To kick off the week, we need parent volunteers to stand at the entrances to the school and wave, smile, give high fives and fist bumps.

Start with Hello Week, a program initiated by Sandy Hook Promise, is “a national call-to-action week dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among youth.”

Therapeutic Arts Science & Growth Mindset After School Workshop

Boosting self-esteem and confidence is vital at a young age. The arts and sciences can provide children with opportunities to succeed and develop a sense of accomplishment, while satiating curiosity, which can help to boost their self-esteem and confidence.
This program encourages cultural awareness and appreciation. It provides an opportunity for kids to learn about and appreciate different cultures and artistic traditions. This exposure can help to promote cultural awareness and understanding and foster a more diverse and inclusive society.

When: Thursdays, 9/21 – 10/19, from 4:15 – 6:00 p.m.

Loudon United
Join your fellow Dranesville families on Saturday, October 7th at our first PTA-sponsored field trip to see Loudon United at Segra Field. If we sell 50+ tickets, students will have the opportunity to sit on the field sideline as teams warm up!
Cost: $15
Time: Game starts at 6:15 p.m.

A running program for 3rd-6th graders, the fall session of Dragon Runners will run Mondays & Wednesdays from 4:15 – 5:30 p.m. from September 11 – November 28, 2023.
This exciting program is aimed at strengthening students in body and spirit by combining group activities with running. The programs’ mission is to encourage students to live their full potential by inspiring healthy friend, family, and community relationships, as well as to develop strength and endurance in the sport of running.

Dragon Days

The 2023-2024 Dragon Days program will kick off this September. Parents, guardians, or family members are invited to spend specific Fridays throughout the year volunteering in the school.
